MUMBAI: Popular Bollywood singer Toshi Sabri has been hospitalised after a car accident on the Pune-Nashik highway today morning, which left his band mate dead.
The 'Maahi Maahi' hitmaker sustained injuries including a broken hip bone and is currently under observation at the Wockhardt hospital in Nashik.
The accident happened when the singer along with his band was returning from a performance in Shirdi during the wee hours and their vehicle was hit by a truck.
"I was in Mumbai when I came to know that my brother has had an accident. Toshi is in a critical condition. He will undergo an operation tonight or tomorrow morning," the singer's brother Sharib Sabri told PTI.
Abdul Aatik, the singer's bandmate died on the spot while Toshi's manager and two other band members survived injuries.
"Abdul was our main guy and his death is a huge loss for us. He is a family guy with a young child and that makes it all the more tragic," said Sharib.
Toshi and Sharib, known as the Sabri brothers, shot to fame with the reality show, 'Amul Star Voice of India' and had gone on to compose music for films like 'Jashnn', 'Raaz 2', 'Jail' and 'Veer'.
