[edit] Early Life and Education

Hussain was born and raised in Mumbai, India to Sakina & Kayyam Kuwajewala. His father died when he was 12 years old, after a long illness. Hussain has claimed that because of his father's death he didn't have a very memorable childhood.[1] He is the youngest of three children. His brother, Qaeed Kuwajewala, is a director and his sister, Nafisa, resides in the United States.[1] Hussain attended Fatima High School in Mumbai and received his BSc degree from Jai Hind College in Mumbai. Hussain has said that during his high school years he had no desire to become an actor and preferred to stay out the public eye. Rather he kept close with his family who also attended the same school as he did. After appearing in a few college theater productions Hussain became more open to options in the media.

[edit] Career

After several modeling campaigns and commercials Hussain landed a role in the long running Indian soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Although Hussain played a supporting role, he was recognized and noticed and then offered the lead male role in Bag Telefilms soap Kumkum (TV series), which has been his longest-running and most successful soap to date. Along side acting Hussain has also anchored several successful shows like Shabaash India, Kisme Kitna Hai Dum, Kuch Kar Dikhana Hai and Khullja Sim Sim (second season), Indian Idol 3, Nach Baliye 3, Indian Idol 4 and Dance Premier League. He also participated and won the reality show Nach Baliye 2, along with his wife Tina Darira. Hussain has done advertisements for Close Up, Noga Juice, Leher Kurkure, Perk, Gillette, Priya Gold, Rexona, RMD Pan Masala, United Cookers, Seylon Tea, Harpic and Supreme Detergent, Relispray and Swarup TMT Saria. In early 2009 he signed to his debut Bollywood film called But Adi Loves Sanjana Yaar, but the project has been delayed due production problems.

[edit] Personal life

Hussain married his college sweetheart Tina Darira on 21 December 2005, which was also the same date that they first met.[2] Their courtship lasted nine years before marrying.[3] Although Hussain is Bohra a Muslim religion division and Tina is a Hindu they married in a civil ceremony.
