Born and brought up in Mumbai. Ami wanted to be a doctor and did graduate as a science student. Things changed when she began doing Gujarati theatre. Her father is a well-known theatre actor, Tushar Trivedi who has been involved in Gujarati plays for over 20 years. Her brother Karan Trivedi is also into theatre. Ami landing the lead role was based on her talent. She didn't even have her photographs taken for self promotion.
