Episode 26 Update
- Daadu asks for breakfast and Maina comes along with it saying Koyal was busy
- Daadu was about to eat when Maina snatches the food saying he won't be able to digest it just like she wasn't able to digest Manikant scolding her in front of everyone
- She drinks Daadu's tea. She couldn't say anything outside but she can certainly tell him since she's also his DIL. She wants to know what her fault is as she wedded his son, gave the house an heir but she still couldn't become the house's owner (maalkin). Koyal on the other hand, who has given nothing to the house, Daadu gave everything to her. She agrees that Manikant loves her a lot but legally, Koyal is his wife because of which Maina's marriage has never been legal. She has no complaints against Koyal but against Daadu. She wants to know what did he see wrong in Maina that he couldn't give Maina the same respect as he did Koyal.
- Manikant comes looking for Maina. Daadu says he wants to talk to Manikant about Maina. Maina looks worried.
- Titli thinks about Garv while threading some flowers. Not paying attention, she hurts herself and bleeds. Kaki Maa sees this and scolds her for being inattentive. She attends to Titli's wounds. Titli says she doesn't understand anything. She's unable to forget her past and she connects everything to it. She's starting to look for the bad even in good things. She was never like this. How can she choose between what is right and wrong.
- Garv thinks about how can he choose between BM & Titli. His uncle says it's not that easy. Even he had to go through something similar and he had to make a choice which changed his life forever.
- Kaki Maa says her life had changed as well but she had no regret about her choice. If she hadn't forgotten her past and moved on, then she wouldn't have gotten such a great family.
- The uncle says that he could have gotten something if he had chosen his Love. Then his life would have been different. He advises Garv to listen to his heart and leave everything to God. He will help him reach his destination.
- Daadu says Maina made really good tea. Manikant tells him that's great and to go rest. Manikant tells Maina to keep Koyal away from the pagh phere rituals. He doesn't want Maina and him to fight anymore.
- Koyal wants to apologize for what happened yesterday but Manikant walks away.
- Garv is at a temple and is recollecting his uncle's words. He tells Kanhaji that he has never asked Him anything and he still won't. He doesn't want to win Titli's love, but earn it. Just like He did with Radhaji. He will do everything he can to prove that his love for Titli is true.
- He tells a pandit that he wants to do seva. The pandit asks if he would like to clean the temple and bathe Kanhaji. Garv agrees and sweeps the floors of the temple.
- Titli's happy about how she was able to help Kaka with the money she got from Monica's wedding. She mentions how if she gets a few more contracts like this then she can make her dream of opening up her own flower shop come true.
- Baa asks if Sanket called again. Kaki Maa says he didn't pick up. Titli thinks it's best if he doesn't.
- Garv overhears some men saying that they want the best decoration done for Kanhaji. He pulls out Titli's business card and refers Titli. They speak rudely to him saying who asked him and that they already have a decorator fixed. Garv gets mad and accuses them of stealing money from the temple funds. He says he has enough evidence against them to put them in jail. One of the guys asks who is he and he says, Garv Mehta, a lawyer who's an expert in sending frauds like them to jail. They get scared and agree to take the decorator he recommended.
- Titli gets a call for an assignment from the same guys. She's very excited
- Trishti tells Koyal that Garv left without eating or drinking. Koyal thinks he must be really busy in work. Then thinks if it's something else.
- Garv continues to sweep and wash the temple
- He sees Titli arrive at the temple and gets happy. He follows her inside. Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai plays. While Titli is praying, he showers her with flowers and watches her from afar.
- He's following her outside when the pandit stops him, reminding him of the things he needs to do
- Titli sits down to eat and while she prays, Garv serves her food. (He doesn't bother to feed the other ladies. 😆)
- Titli makes a phone call and Garv continues to stare at her while holding a tray of flowers.
- Titli's about to trip when Garv catches her hand and saves her from falling. VFX leaves are flying around them. Garv pulls Titli close and they hug each other.
- Kaka is also at the temple.
- Tili breaks the hug. Seeing her dupatta is on fire, he pulls it off of her and uses his hands to put the fire out. Titli flashes back to teh first time he saved her burning dupatta.
- Manikant looks for Garv at the office. He asks Hiral to bring a file who tells him that Garv isn't at the office. He dismisses her and calls Garv who doesn't pick up. He calls Koyal to find out where he is but she tells him that she doesn't know.
- Koyal wonders if he's with Titli but then denies it saying that he had promised her.
- Garv is still trying to put the fire out with his hand. Titli gets a jug of water and diffuses the fire. Garv runs to Titli and asks if she's okay. How can she be so irresponsible? If anything had happened to her...
- Titli says it still wouldn't have pained her as much as seeing him hurt. She looks at his burnt hands and says she'll bring some medicines. She's about to leave when Garv holds her hand, saying he's fine. If she's fine then even if something happens to him, he'll be fine. He has a lot of trust in her. He agrees that they're both like fire and water and that they're not compatible. Love can never brew between them, but when it does, then it's roohani, soulful.
Precap:
- Kaka is mad at Titli and asks if she was taking advantage of their trust which Titli denies. Kaka tells her to keep quiet. He's about to slap her when Garv intervenes, holding Kaka's hand. He tells him he can't hit Titli and that Titli isn't at anyone's mercy and he doesn't need to worry about her because he loves Titli.
Quote of the Episode: Hum aag aur paani ki tarah hai. Aur aag aur paani ko koi mel nahi hota. Completely alag hai. Aksar aag aur paani mein kabhi pyaar nahi hota. Lekin jab hota hai na, toh bada roohani hota hai. - Garv Mehta
Compared to the last few episodes we have seen, Garv was much calmer today. HIs love for Titli did not come off as possessive or obsessive. Rather, it was genuine and given all the divine symbolism and motifs we saw today, it can be very rightfully said that his love for Titli is equivalent to a divine love. I mentioned this a few days ago when he defended Titli, Garv has placed her above God. Today, with the song Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai, him doing seva as a way to earn God's goodwill, and even saying their love is soulful - he is not confining his feelings for her to societal rules and expectations. It goes beyond all that. In today's episode, with Garv being calm in his demeanor, these feelings really did come off as being pure and sincere. When he starts being mad and aggressive, however, these feelings can very easily make him appear unhinged and dangerous.
Thoughts:
- Today we got a glimpse of the bitterness that Maina has for Koyal. Despite being Manikant's favorite and giving the house so many kids, she still has no legal power in the house. That belongs to Koyal. The only person she can crib to is Daadu because of his Alzheimer's. When she refused to let Daadu eat and drank his tea instead, I definitely got a mean streak from her. She may be well-spoken, calm and conduct herself greatly, but I feel like Maina might be lacking the ability to connect with others emotionally. For example, when Monica's wedding was broken, she never bothered to go after her and check how she was doing. Even with Garv, who has done so many kaands by now, she has never once rebuked him for his actions or bothered to check in on how he's doing. Furthermore, her constantly putting Koyal at the forefront of all the rituals, may actually be her way of not taking up any responsibilities. When inevitably Koyal does fck up, she gets all the blame and hatred from Manikant, while Maina gets all the praise and is deemed to be better than her sister.
- I liked that we got a little more insight into Garv's uncle and Kaki Maa. These little interactions help to flesh them out and not let them be just caricatures or side pieces.
What I found fascinating was that both these characters had love interests whom they had to let go. While Kaki Maa didn't find any regret as she's happy with her current life, Garv's uncle on the other hand feels the opposite. His not wanting his nephew to go through the same state, creates an empathetic connection but it also motivates Garv to not go down the same path. For Titli on the other hand, she has gotten another perspective of why holding onto her past so tightly may not be the best thing. She very well could be self-sabotaging and preventing herself from achieving the happiness that she so rightfully deserves. - Something we haven't seen for a bit has been Garv's selflessness. Him doing seva at the mandir, or him referring Titli's business to other clients wasn't done with the intention of him winning any points in Titli's eyes. She didn't even know he was doing any of this. Titli's success, happiness, safety and wellbeing truly matter a lot to him.
- The aesthetics were really great in today's episode! With Titli in blue, Garv in white, the mandir scenes were all shot really well.
- I'm curious to know what Kaka thinks Titli was taking advantage of. I'm assuming he shouts at her after the photos have been released. Garv saving Titli from being slapped is again interesting given the show promo we all know so well. But him declaring his love for her in front of everyone, he has essentially released Kaka from taking up any responsibility over her. Which I find interesting because nobody needs to be responsible for Titli. She's financially independent and is more than capable of taking care of herself. She doesn't need a man to shelter, feed or take care of her finances.
Let's see what happens tomorrow.
