Manish Goplani shares his Thapki journey and more...
At a time when most daily shows don't last more then a few months since its launch, Colors Thapki Pyar Ki has managed to last two years. The cast recently completed successful completion of 700 episodes. In this perspective Indianwikimedia spoke to the lead actor Manish Goplani .
"In my humble opinion , positivity in the show and among cast members have clicked. We have managed to carve a place for ourselves in the hearts of the viewers, no wonder despite time slot changes (now airing at 5 pm) the ratings have not dropped much.
Here Manish, who began his journey with a regional show said, "One more positive spin off of Thapki has been that I have been lucky to get to play different shades. I began as a normal guy, then later with the assistance of the writers and director also added the rough tough Bihari element which raised the confidence of the actor in me. Cut to the good boy character. And now I am essaying the business tycoon Aryaan Khanna who is poles apart from Bihan yet getting the same love and affection of the audiences. This success pushes me to believe that I am growing as an artist.
Looking ahead he would want to experiment with all kinds of characters romantic, negative and positive, among others. "I am an artist and it is my duty to push the creativity to the hilt, the tougher the better. I never say no... having said that I build the character according to my perspective.
So does he get the desired liberty in Thapki as well? "See after two years of playing Bihan no one knows him better than me. Also here the creative team keeps changing so their knowledge of minute details is lesser than mine. Luckily the production house understands the same and hence gives me the latitude to do my own thing. We all are working in tandem to make a better show.
Remind Manish that when the show began it was supposed to be the love story of a stammering girl Thapki (Jigyasa Singh) who joins an office and overtime the story has gone on a completely different tangent. "I will not blame anyone either the audiences, the channel or production house but we need to accept that if the story is not working, we will add ratings garnering masala elements like saas bahu or wedding of daughter while not taking away the soul of the original concept . And let's face it... if women audiences like over the top drama, we will serve that only, daily soap is a business at the end of the day.
Manish is also game for web series. "This format is hot than conventional TV, so why not. However, he would not go for artificially bold characters ."If the edgy element is real and naturally fits in narrative I will not shy away, he ended.
