#1.. i agree... Ratan doesnt fit in a typical middle class bahu category.. mainly
1. Coz of her odd profession and her work timings..
2. She doesnt know basic things on how to manage a home single handedly..
but thn.. most of todays working women doesnt know tht like their mum-in-laws or moms including myself.. to totally give 100% to your family is not possible for a working woman.. she has to delegate her chores to someone else which is not acceptable.. thn the question arises..
Y did Ratan chose traditional middle class family suitors?
Y did she not seek a suitor who has his mother a working woman?
Y did she not seek a suitor who has some female in entertainment industry background?
this way..
1. she cud've maintained her current lifestyle
2. Her prospective family wud understand she a career girl a bit..
3. Her prospective family wud've already well set up home run by a working mom.. all she need to do is learn from mum-in-law how to handle both home and job...
4. Then, they mite understand her profession with odd working hours and might be supportive.. i dont expect any of the current mum in laws to be adjusting to her odd working hours.. thy all seem so conservative!..
i agree either this is all farce or she is heading for a breakup even b4 they get married..
#2.. clearly the dulhas look so artificial and less interested and even it seems Ratan herself is not interested enuf in these boys or wat they think.. none of thm match Ratan..
Ratan mite not b beautiful.. and perfect .. but its her swayamvar.. and going by her personality and family background, she took a wrong step by coming into this swayamvar.. she is soo confused..
she hails from a middle class family.. but her profession is glamorous and it requires a different lifestyle and a family with somewhat liberal thots...and not too much conservative.. her best family would b from a metro city.. and more so from Mumbai.. so tht they understand this industry and support her...
with so much of chopping, i think this show's gonna get over soon.. while watching yesterday, i felt like i was watching highlights of this show...πŸ˜†

after all, this is not any other typical job.

I am not saying she should quit but, she should not be so adamant in her answers which shows her rudeness. She could have explained that this is something she wants to continue and will consider making changes according to the situation. when one of the mother said she expects her son and DIL should come back home by 9 her immediate answer was "but i have to go at 9 sometimes" which in my opinion was upright rude. she could be frank but, in a little sensitive way.

And again thats just my point of view

My dear Puni..
No offense taken at all... we all know she is pretty rude and none of them want to get married... at all..
infact the MIL episode was just to get a reason to eliminate some guys...they need reasons for elimination na... see today she wil use the same reasons u stated above to eliminate those boys... this show is every much scripted... so no point in arguing who is right who is wrong,,,

but coming back to you point of ratan being only a serial old... infact that is precisely why she would want to continue working... madhuri and sridevi did NOT marry at the peak of their careers or even at the beginning... most of the bollywood heroines settle down only when they feel they have earned enough money .. or they get old enough that they stop getting good roles... aishwarya is a exception ... but other than her most of them would want to make use of their young days as you might also agree that in show biz looks are also very important,...

so it would be unfair to expect ratan to quit now...wat ever she might be ( rude and all ) she has every right like any 1 else to decide what she wants to do with her career... anyways since she has entered the pool of reality shows she wil surely be in big boss next where she wil talk abt her experiences here...

all I am saying is the MIL can expect wat ever they wish to see in their DIL but at the same time ratan too can have dreams for her career and neither are wrong.

So this Mum-in-law episode was quite interesting and made me think. I guess we can conclude the following:

1. Baring a mum-in-law or 2, most of the mum-in-laws want a conservative bahu and want her to quit her job which definitely makes sense to them. Why the Swayamvar then? Ratan can easily find a husband in the acting industry or even Mumbai to suit her needs. I bet she won't leave her job to get married. This whole Swayamvar looks like a farce now - it looks like this was only done for money and that she will finally not marry any of them.

2. Are the guys REALLY interested to marry her? Apart from maybe Abhinav, none of them look that keen (especially Anupam). So much that I have started to wonder if some guys are not using their mums to scare Ratan away :D Just like Pradeep's mum. Not going out after 9pm? Come on! She said many other extreme things, which Pradeep fully supported. Was this a ploy so that Ratan doesn't marry him?

Exactly my 2 cents. They all came here coz they knew her as Laali else Ratan has no achievements to her credit. And they looked like they were ready to pounce on her and free their sons from her-whisk them away so they laid such conditions.Compare with rakhi's swayamvar where she was also asked the same questions -didnnt they know how working hours are erratic in film world?????so the whole thing is that------Swayamwar is fake-maybe Ratan really wants someone but everyone else is enjoying their 2 minutes of fame.Wake up imagine-we already know your dirty tricks!!!!

I guess it was not so done to ask her to come to home by 9.I mean for any working woman at somepoint od time her job might require her to be away from home after 9 so that doesnt mean it will be a sin or disrespectin anyone.

And I think its good that she interrupted MIL when she was talkin about coming to home at 9 so that later MIL cant say that she never objected to this point.

Coming to the point of leaving her job,I think this decision should entirely be in Ratans hand, she has as much right to work as her husband.

Thanks for the replies peeps!

My new conclusions from today's episode:

1. Ratan seems to have fallen for Abhinav and he is currently her 1st choice of dulha, followed by Anupam due to the sweet date + he said he loved her. Abhinav is indeed very suitable for marriage in terms of he's settled and all + he has a very versatile personality + multi-talented. Except for his arrogance (so true, everyone can see that). But Ratan seems to manage fine with that, well and good!

2. BUT, is Anupam really THAT keen to marry her? In the Rapid Fire round he said, her negative point was that she believes people too easily. Remember the episode when everyone was critisising Anupam because they were jealous of him and Ratan started to interrogate and doubt him? Since then, it really pissed him off and he said he'd rather leave now than wait till Top 5 or whatever if she cannot trust him. He said what's the use of a relationship when he has to justify for every lil thing. Oh man, he's so right! I actually find him quite nice.

3. Either the face reader was really good or Ratan strongly believes him or even both. I believe her decisions were quite based on that.

4. Hiten as Swayamvar's host is plain boring! Ram Kapoor had to be back to host this interesting segment. Ram does this very well!

If Anupam, or anybody else wants to leave, they can just leave, can't they? Why do they have to wait, and provoke Ratan into eliminating them? I agree w/ Anupam, and had I been in his place, I'd have walked in that episode when she ganged up w/ everybody against him. In the other thread 'Elimination', I did hope that Anupam takes her to Poland and keeps her there, so that we are rid of her. 😈
