I never think MB in a religious way.
If I leave the angle, I like Draupadi in POI.Its a nice FF & digestable also.
I cant even digest SuryaPutra Karna if I ate all Hajmola from the bottle.

I despise KD because there was nothing between them. Still I LOVE POI. I believe it to be a fairy tale. Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni herself has told in the beginning that characters in her story are only fictional and not real at all. I trust her in that. It is the presentation of POI that I loved the most. The author's wisdom of keeping Karna as a secret of Draupadi is worth praising. As a piece of literature, it is a great work. As for the content, I consider it to be a fairy tale with characters who were named after characters from Mahabharata.😆 Nothing more.

Draupadi might have admired him at Swayamvar as Dharmakshetra but she was born to marry Arjun and she was born with love for him.

Mahabharat is not a religious book, it is a way of life, it is something which has everything required for someone to lead a good life. And Bhagvad Gita is a management guru.

I am not even doubting that she loves Arjun most & remain loyal to Pandavas.
Best example is, She stayed with the Pandavas after the DyutSabha incident.
That day Pandavas failed to protect her.
I think, in Palace Of Illusion writing was nice.
Thats why, I like the angle.
Afterall, Its a FF.

Jamy,
Karna & Draupadi both are completely different characters.
I love Karna-Draupadi angle in POI.
Honestly, Chitra Banerjee mam convinces me through her narrative, that I liked K-D there.
For me, this angle is not unthinkable.
though I am confused whether I liked it or not.
Thats it.

@Madhu, I also meant the same that I LOVED KD in POI. But not beyond it. I did not like KD in Yagyaseni and Mrityunjaya. Mrityunjaya is the worst book on Karna I came across. POI is written very convincingly. We have nothing to disprove it. Because we never read Draupadi's inner thoughts in Mahabharata. Neither we have any access to her mind. So it is the presentation that makes POI unique here.

Like our show. It is a fictional work with the same characters of MB and somewhat similar storylines as MB.

Didn't read POI but I admire her courage to write on this topic when many of despise that angle. I can even appreciate Duryodhan for certain things but accepting KD is a big fat no.

Not like this show.😆 It is not even believable. If a person who has never read Mahabharata reads POI, he will certainly believe that Karna and Draupadi loved each other. Even if he hearts the whole Mahabharata later, he will not believe the opposite. That is the problem with POI. It is written that much convincingly, without altering anything from the original Mahabharata except 2-3 things, AFAIR. In POI, Draupadi is born from fire as a little girl who later grows up in Drupada's palace but in MBh she was born as an adult. Also in POI, Draupadi has a bitter relation with Kunti whereas in MBh, Kunti loved her more than she loved her sons. Except these, I don't remember any change in main storyline. Whatever other stuffs are there, like KD, that all are added very beautifully into the gaps where Draupadi is seen silent in MBh. And that is done very accurately and convincingly that if you have not read MBh already, it is very difficult to believe KD never happened. And that is the success of that author.😆 Even I don't like KD but I like POI just for this reason. Not even Jambu fruit incident is there in it. And all characters are the nearest to the originals. And it is far far superior than Yagyaseni.

Seems interesting! Should give it a try soon.

^^^Just keep in mind that it is a fairy tale. It is not a bad read at all. Draupadi's portrayal is the best in it, if we keep KD aside.

I loved the short & appropriate descriptions of Karna in Palace of Illusions.
Only thing I dislike in Palace Of Illusion is Karna never married to anyone.
Chitra Banerjee mam was desparately trying to prove that Karna & Draupadi both love each other.
Its a FF.thats it.

I am not prejudiced I believe and I will try my best to read it with as open mind as possible. If Draupadi's portrayal is good, I will try it out.
