In Discovery Channel's critically acclaimed Man vs Wild, Bear Grylls is left stranded in an extremely hostile terrain. It could be icy Siberia, or Sahara Desert or wilderness of deepest Amazon forests, where there is no amenity / no help.

He shows you what are the best techniques to survive in such a situation, (not that 99% of us stand a chance even after watching all his stuff). In one episode, I saw him striking fire after continuously striking two stones he found on an isolated beach...on another one, in icy snow, he finds a dead reindeer, scruffs out the meat to eat it raw and survive and carefully take out its skin, intact, so that he can use it to 'wear it' as a jacket! To cross icy river, he wears that peeled off reindeer skin, tightly fastens it on body, swims across the freezing river and takes it off to emerge almost dry on body!

That man is just unbelievable!

Obviously, this Survivor nautanki with ropes, sticks, match box and best part...COMPANY OF EACH OTHER...can be no match on Man vs Wild...but than, it never claimed to be so too, I am sure!😛

OMFG!! You like Bear????
You just fell a couple of notches off my ladder of esteem-ALAS!
You are dead right about the "critical"part-he is universally abhorred in the world of animal lovers & also dead wrong about the "acclaimed" part -environmentalist across the spectrum revile him.

This dude needs to take his circus to where ever they train Green Berets,Marines,SAS & other outfits that train (& pay highly) men to survive in the extreme out doors.
I've been an active participant in a campaign for the longest while to have his program REMOVED from a channel that professes to protect animals & the environment.
The pictures of him gleefully biting off the heads of a live frog & snake, allegedly for survival(WHERE THE EFF WAS HIS CREW?!) makes me wince in disgust every time I even think of it. It is utterly REVOLTING !

This is one Discovery program I could well do without, please! I hate this kind of mindless machismo that gives kids wrong ideas about what is acceptable behavior with wild life! To me,the idiocy of Bear's presenting on Discovery, its at par with the horrendous decision to invite a violent, convicted rapist like Tyson to air his views & teach us about pigeon care/training! Probably was the be-kind-to-rapist month in the US.

REALLY, how many of us are going to benefit in our lives from seeing this cruel moron's antics? I find presenters like Leonard, the late Steve Irwin,or Jeff Corwin much better & informative in a useful, practical way!

Sorry if I trod on the toes of fans of this show.

Atlast found someone who finds the show obnoxious & irritating . I find that guys actions vulgar . It is not like he is alone in the place , he has a crew with him . Saw him swallowing a tiny winy frog size of a small bead once , that was the last day for me
We have no right to go in to wild & disturb the animals habitat in my opinion
I dont find a very big difference between him & a poacher infact indirectly he is teaching survival skills that will come handy to poachers alone

No.offence , just my humble opinion.

As far as survivors I am sure the forum will rock once the number of contestants reduce to a favourable number where we can remember their names .

Arey baap re!😲

Calm down ladies...Calm down please!😛

I NEVER said, I like Man vs Wild.

The comparison was merely in the text of term SURVIVOR...nothing more. Lele ji and I only meant that when you are using the world Survivor-Stranded on island etc. you might as well try to survive with minimum of facilities...here we see clothes hanging on nylon ropes, match sticks-lighters, all kinds of tools, comfort of the company of each other...etc.

I am a great fan of Nat Geo-Discovery and to be honest, these two+Animal Planet are the reasons I find it hard to focus on this Survivor thing...but certainly no fan of Man vs Wild. Just that, indeed the guy does some incredible stuff. I was fascinated by how he once struck fire rubbing two stones and on another occasion achieving the same result with two special wooden pieces on an island!😛

Show is OK..tasks need to be more exciting. Above all host is damn pakaoo and wooden. He has almost nil interaction with contestants. I hope they mix the two tribes, so we have celebrities and non celebrities scattered.

Finally, aajaa 🤗 Hope you won't ditch us here like u did on BB Forum 😆

I don't like the host either, neither do I like the voice-over. Akshay or Manish would have been better hosts 😆

Pardon me for pointing out that making a fire by rubbing two stones together is the most elementary skill taught to BABY girl & boy scouts!!
You are far too easily impressed!!!

Chamaktidhoop: You were missed. 🤗 Survivor's only drawback I think is the airtime.
The ones on twitter should spam http://twitter.com/SnehaRajani for Iss Jungle... on Sony.
