Topics that take a one-sided stance should never be pinned as a global topic. The Real Genocides topic should never have been pinned. https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/current-affairs/5355651/the-real-genocide-s

1) The topic contradicts the United Nations and the International Court of Justice in its definition of genocides

2) Is insensitive to innocent civilians who are suffering under a military attack

3) Has a lot of misinformation and a lot of Islamophobic sentiment

While the topic maker and others in support of the have the right to their viewpoint and engage in a COC-compliant discussion of the topic, it is the moderator's duty to remain neutral, apply the COC equitably to both sides and NEVER EVER give precedence to one side of the debate.

So - do you, Vijay, and your entire Dev Team stand behind and endorse the thread "The Real Genocides"

- If yes, then perhaps you can make your stance transparent and visible so that Muslims and Palestinian supporters may choose to deactivate their accounts and stop engaging in this forum that officially is against them

- If not, you need to take strict action against whichever moderator allowed their bias to overcome their neutrality and pinned the topic as a global announcement and make them issue an apology for their biased actions

Hoping to hear about your decision.

I’ve been active on India Forums for over a decade and till date have never come across such blatant discrimination and misuse of authority until now. I’ll give this post at least three hours before our beloved CEO deletes or shifts it to a random channel where no one, not even Vijay himself can find it.

You (Vijay) advise us to bring our issues to your attention and to speak directly to a DT member but when we do, you either delete our posts, shift it to Timbuktu, reply with a chat GPT generated message, or leave our PM’s unread. Several members have complained about unfair moderation and you have done absolutely jack shit to address the issue. Stop giving us bullshit generic responses and assume that it’ll appease members into keeping quiet so that the issue is forgotten and you can continue to generate revenue from us.

I know for a fact that MNX12 pinned the genocide post because unlike the majority of the DT team, this mod doesn’t hide the fact that she’s biased. You expect us to bring our issues to these kinda people? The very same moderator who laughs at the word genocide thrown around so carelessly. Is genocide a term that we can use to joke around now? Then you have the most disgusting thread pinned to GA, claiming in the title itself that the Palestinian issue is NOT a real genocide. I’m sorry but if the UN and ICJ has recognised it as a genocide then who the fuck are you and what authority do you have to dismiss this crisis and turn it into a laughing matter. You can absolutely bring attention to all genocides without having to undermine Palestine. I cannot fucking believe that the thread was pinned for days and you were okay with 40000 + civilian deaths being mocked. I know you’re not blind Vijay, you saw that thread, read it and found nothing wrong with it. I wonder if you were itching to laugh react to the below post as well?

I wanted to back up my friend FF here! And she deserves this smiley32for saying it how it is. But unfortunately, the cowardly moderation here will not give her the response she deserves, or delete her post. If so they will hear it from me.

Thanks for bringing that up with Vijay. I agree that the Current Affairs forum should probably be sunset.

I do not know if it is people's personal grudges against each other or real-life biases against people based on religious or sociopolitical identities, but there is an all-around inability to engage with each other in a compassionate and respectful manner.

Perhaps the site should stick strictly to entertainment, sports, and vapid celebrity fluff.

Every post criticising bjp gets deleted. Even in current affairs forum. It is only for praising bjp. What was the point of making this forum if all members can not participate?

Thanks RTH.

Yes I think CA forum is not helping.

Unfortunately it's a mixture of things. Members dislike for one another, the rebellion (which ofcourse will only cause consequences for real victims, from any community).

The one thing I understood was no one wants to hate people from the other faith. Infact people from the different faith group to mine actually listened to me. We exchanged information on religion. I realised the concept of belief and not just the content within that belief was different. How Islam and the Dharmic faith are formed and implemented, why the Dharmic followers couldn't understand why Islamic rules can't be changed the way their own are. I researched deep in to it. Before I can present my study.. too much was going on in IF and I decided to take time away. There is misunderstandings, which I see and not many people want to acknowledge. When I partake in a debate or discussion, I position myself into the role of a chairperson rather than in an oppositional position. I like to hear both voices. If we don't know what the other is thinking or feeling we will not be able to address our defend it. Some people felt by allowing the other side to speak should not be done as they felt that they are doing so because they hate our faith. The other party tried to talk about their issues again and again because they sensed no one cares to know.

That's the bottom of the crunch. My religion taught me to clear misunderstandings, be civil and defend religion in the correct way by using facts. I followed the protocol, but instead I faced abuse and name calling. No matter what faith you are from, your life matters. All religions support humanity.

Thing is everyone's heart is in the right place, they all want to save people. What each side doesn't realise is truly no one wants anyone killed. All this that's been going on has been tit for tat rebellion only because of member relationships here.

But it needs to stop. It went too too far, esp sometime after CA forum opened.

If everyone can support each other and join hands and campaign together for every community.. then that's a step forward, but only if they can set their egos aside.

But I can't see that happening anytime soon, so it's better like you said to stick to the easier and less complicated stuff, because that in itself is complicated enough in this forum.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity to present my view on the matter.

Killing of innocent lives be it of any religion is inhumane and horrific. To make a mockery out of dead lives and people who are still suffering is sick! Talking about Genocides happening around the world is necessary but undermining a genocide currently happening on a large scale since so long is disgusting.

This is about humanity. Please keep religion and politics out of this. I would have said the same if it was happening anywhere. Please sit back and think about what are you doing with your time over here. This forum is for entertainment purpose, but it has become hindus vs muslims. It is so sad to see all of this. IF was in its glory once. Healthy debates could have made the CA forum a place for everyone to visit, but its now a hate lobby from both the sides. This should be addressed sincerely.

INDIA FORUMS DEFINED

IndiaForums is primarily an entertainment website. I don't even need to prove it - the tagline speaks for itself: "movie tv digital". The website setup confirms it. The multiple forums and subforums speak to that only. The primary purpose of India Forums is to discuss entertainment-related topics with a sideline for India-specific topics like the current election or cricket (because we have a lot of cricket fans).

INDIA FORUMS CODE OF CONDUCT

I'd like to briefly remind you of the Code of Conduct you set Vijay - which is held as the standard for all posts/comments in IndiaForums and to some degree, what the moderation team should be striving for when moderating.

https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/rules-and-announcements/3637258/india-forums-com-participation-guidelines-and-rules

Your paragraph outlines your intention with the rules: "We respect your freedom of speech and expression however we need to ensure that everyone respects the others and are able to post maturely. We have rules so that the different sections can run efficiently and fights are circumvented."

Let's pause here and lets take a look at this post in question and lets ponder for a second if it fits your intentions:

https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/current-affairs/5355651/the-real-genocide-s

'Hi everyone. Please post your stories about where the real genocides are taking place in the world here. Ofc it’s not happening in Gaza." ~@KJasoosChulbulP

Short answer: It doesn't. Intentionally using vocabulary like "real genocides" or "ofc it's not happening in Gaza" directly go against the intended behavior of IndiaForums with regard to respect, maturity, and avoiding fights. A similar post speaking about genocides in general, but not purposefully speaking against or omitting a known genocide, would be reasonable under the circumstances of the wider IF policies where political and religious discussions are allowed. However, because of the controversial nature of such topics, I don't think it would be allowed to be a GA because that's not the purpose of the website. This is not what KJasoosChulbulP's post was about and the intent of that post was not so obscured as to confuse a reasonable person.

That's solidified by KJasoosChulbulP ending with:

Mods - please make this a GA topic. As the recent news are really focused on this and IF should support the truth of the actual genoicides and the active calls for genocide in the world, especially to dismiss the propoganda by Hamas terrorists supporters 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Why does one user get to dictate what "the truth of the actual genocide and the active calls for genocide in the world" is and force it upon the rest of us by having it shown on the Global Announcements? Why is this one user and a moderator representing what "IF should support"? Why does the mod team act in concurrence with this instead of enforcing the rules you set regarding respect? You have a set guideline for Global Announcements, do you not?

Here: https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/rules-and-announcements/3707898/guidelines-for-global-announcement-topics

Which statement here goes towards the fact that any member of the forum can request VIA IN-POST message and get approved a blatantly disrespectful, hateful instigation of a serious global event? None. Absolutely none.

Further, you wrap up that post with this statement:

BASIC GUIDELINES FOR POSTING

When posting please remember to respect and tolerate different thoughts and do not turn any post against your opinion into a unnecessary flame-wars. Try to be composed and collective when posting as this will stop feeding the instigators. There is going to be a Zero tolerance policy for those who just come to the forum to disrupt the activities and discussions .

...

BE THOUGHTFUL-> RESPECT EVERYONE -> DISCUSS CALMLY -> HAVE LOADS OF FUN

Do I need to spell it out that KJasoos's post was exactly that - a post intended to create an unnecessary flamewar, with instigation based on wording, that intended to disrespect a certain group of people within IndiaForums. I could very well make arguments as to how "Attacks Against Fellow Members'" was the intent behind the post, but I'm going to brush that aside because the larger focus should be on how useless and worthless the current mod team is.

You write:

Moral Policing: Moral policing by members in any forum will NOT be tolerated. It only leads to unnecessary instigation/arguments. The section Dev Team Members will do the needful when a situation arises. Members are to simply abide by the rules and not preach others. If you should come across an abusive topic please contact the development team, rather than taking matters in your own hands

Oh wait. A moderator was responsible for not doing the needful when a situation arose. Mods were alerted and their response was a blatant whoosh. Let's be real. Keeping that post STILL - even if locked - is such an underhanded BS move Vijay that goes to show the silent support you and your team have towards that kind of disrespectful post. The BS argument that "it's talking about genocide regardless" doesn't stand either. The point is it highlights a controversial point of view that defines an individualized, bigoted opinion on genocide out of HIndu-Muslim conflict (the first tweet posted highlights Hindu victims).

Discussing the Dev Team: ... We realize that it's because you are not sure how things are handled or upset at the way things are handle. You may disagree with the way the issue was taken care and that's fair. ... We do want to hear your complaint but we also want to be fair to the people in question. All sides need to be heard objectively and bringing this in the forum just adds more fuel to the fire. If you have a complaint PM the DT person and if you are not satisfied follow the hierarchy and PM the next in command. When you are contacting us with your concern be civil and explain your point in detail so we completely understand your standpoint.

And there you have it -

* Explain the objectivity in such an outlandish, clearly instigating post that would require that post to (a) be part of a GA (on the request of something that has no basis on factuality), (b) still be in a forum and not deleted and thrown in the IF Trashcan that you guys tend to do with most posts against the rules, that (c) took 4 days to lock.

* Explain why that user hasn't been warned for their obvious Hindu-Muslim drama bullshit under the guise of a genocidal conflict.

* Explain why the mod who promoted this and/or active in that thread by editing posts (MNX12) has not said anything regarding her idiotic, biased opinion.

* Explain how no one on the Mod team or Admin caught this on their own? The title says it "THE REAL GENOCIDE" - like are you blind or just purely selective?

Vijay -- IndiaForums is not a rightwing or even a political forum. While we do have political and religious discussions in specific forums and in threads, the policy has always been to respect each other to some degree. Those that violate it, get punished (ie their post trashed and maybe a warning).

It's not that complicated. Treat everyone and their opinions respectfully. If the mods are going to put their bias and bigotry first, then they shouldn't be able to hold mod positions to begin with. An international issue like this - what? Where's the accountability? Why doesn't a global mod or admin overlook the actions of a channel moderator?

So here's to (1) hoping these comments remain instead of being removed because that'd be quite the irony; and (2) we hear something from you.

You profit from us, the least you can do is respond to us and show us your actions Vijay.

EDIT:

Journal Updates

Mid-Day 6/6 (IST) - Initially comments in the feedback/discussion thread but got moved to the "delete me from site" thread because "not in correct place". No response from mod/admin apart from reassurances that there will be a response "soon.' Now this thread gets locked because personal attacks. Thread reopened with request to
express personal views freely and follow community guidelines and be respectful of other members. lol. Full circle. ⭕️ lol. It takes 4 days for mods to take action for the genocide thread, but for this it’s like “we watching you like hawks. Ca-cawwww” smiley37

Mind you, the user is currently inciting hate against multiple sub-groups on the election thread at the moment. So it's not like the Dev Team is actually interested in taking any action at all.

Though, I suppose as long as the site owner can get engagement, they are probably happy because it increases ad revenue. Money talks.

Your post is appreciated, i agree with it and thanks for speaking up. However its imperative to address that its not Hindu vs Muslim issue. There arent many Muslims posting and when they do they are systematically prohibited from clarifying misinformation spread by 3 or 4 members

the overwhelming majority of participants in the GA thread and who have their posts deleted and in the CA section are those advocating pro-life.

Its alarming that fewer than four individuals hold the privilege to post in the CA section, with all other contributions promptly deleted. and thats since the inception of the CA section, any expressions of pro-Palestine sentiment have been systematically eliminated.

Similarly, within the infamous GA thread, voices expressing astonishment, confusion, or a desire for clarification were swiftly purged by mnx12 and minionite.

The problem is with the moderators of the forum, minionite and mnx12. Minonite had no issues to remove the bollywood cc because of drama, yet minionite and mnx12 kept such an abhorrent hateful, drama thread up.
