Aashka Goradia's Bollywood Plans

Aashka Goradia who became popular with her character Kumud on Kkusum (Sony TV), was missing from the small screen for more than six months. Her absence was because she was shooting for the Madhur Bhandarkar's miniseries titled Tara, in which Aashka is playing a prostitute.

Aashka told us about her role in the Madhur-produced film, saying, "It is Madhur's story and it will air this week. I am playing the title character called Tara. The story revolves around a prostitute who falls in love with a pimp, played by Arya Babbar. She is very beautiful and spends all her nights out. She stays in Kamathipura and wants to get out of the profession but at the same time, she falls in love."
The actress was initially offered another role but turned it down. She explains, "Ashok Pandit, who directed Tara, called me for another story based on mother-daughter relationships. But I told him that I have already done similar roles so I want to try something different. He agreed and offered me Tara, which I liked a lot."

The entire team has thoroughly researched the subject before starting the project. Aashka adds, "We have all watched documentaries on this topic. They made me go to Kamathipura. Madhur's has made a very wonderful movie called Chandanibar on a similar subject so I learnt to pick up things like body language from there. It was fun working on the film and I had a lovely time portraying this very different character. It was something that I have never done in my career."

Aashka was praised for her performance by the team. She says, "My director Ashok and everyone else told me that I should try to get into films. He even offered me another story in the same series which I have accepted. Right now, I have finished shooting for Tara and am busy doing my homework for the next story."

Aashka was last seen in the reality show Kabhi Kabhi Yaar Kabhi Kabhi Pyaar along with her costar Amit Sareen from Kussum. She previously ran a salon which she had to close down due to problems.

Specials@10 airs every Mon-Thurs, at 10 pm on Sony.

Series of series on Sony

After breaking the news of Madhur Bhandarkar's episodic series on Sony, Tellychakkar now gives an insight on the series that Cinevistaas is producing for Sony.

A well placed source informs, "This series is titled Kasauli and is scheduled for thirteen episodes. Director and actor Mahesh Manjrekar is the creative director of the series. The tentative launch date is March 1 and it will telecast every Thursday for an hour in the prime time slot. The story is based on a murder mystery. The entire series will be shot in Manali. Actors playing the lead roles are Nidhi Seth and Bhanu Uday. Nidhi Seth has earlier worked with Balaji and Bhanu Uday has acted in a show named Special Squad on Sony. Other actors in the show are eminent theatre actors from Mumbai and Delhi like Satinder Satti, Avtaar Saini, Surendra Sharma and Kumud Mishra."

Another source further informs, "Apart from Bhandarkar Entertainment and Cinevistaas there are two more production houses producing some more series for Sony. And each of these series will launch in the 10 pm slot. In most probability, Balaji Telefilms will also be producing a comedy series."

Producer Siddharth Malhotra (Cinevistaas) confirmed that he is producing a series for Sony but refused to comment on it.

It appears that there will be a series of series on the channel. Let's wait and watch which wins the battle of the TRPs.
