A TV actor and model, 29-year-old Randhawa had committed suicide at her Juhu flat by hanging herself with a dupatta from the ceiling fan last Wednesday.
In a two-page suicide note, she gave a clean chit to her boyfriend and said she was taking the drastic step because she could not cope with life's pressures.
Police sources said Uday was asked about his relationship with the actor and her expectations from the television industry. The two had appeared together in the tele-serial 'Special Squad' for more than a year.
Sources said Uday was asked why he failed to turn up after Randhawa's death. He had also given her funeral at the Oshiwara crematorium a miss.
Uday reportedly said he was caught up with shooting. Besides, the incident had left him in a state of shock and he did not know how to react.
Police also asked whether Randhawa had discussed her work-related frustrations with him. Uday reportedly told officers that she seemed happy and was doing well at work. She always appeared normal when she was with him, Uday stated.
Police asked him if Randhawa had spoken to him about being depressed over her past relationships to which Uday replied in the negative. He is said to have told officers that he had never imagined she would take such a drastic step and had no idea why she did it.
Officials at the Juhu police station spoke to Uday for over two hours. Zonal deputy commissioner Amitabh Gupta confirmed that the statement was taken down and said it was a formality necessary during investigation.
The case is likely to be closed as Randhawa's father, a retired CRPF commandant, had requested so.
