Bhanu Uday, colleague and friend of Kuljeet Randhawa (26) who
committed suicide on Wednesday night, will no longer be under the
police scanner.

After an hour-long meeting with Randhawa's parents on Friday
afternoon, the cops said they would close the case.

"Randhawa's parents have no complaints against Uday or anyone else.

Based on the evidence and the post mortem report, the case is 99 per
cent closed," said a senior police official who did not wish to be
named.

During the mourning yesterday, some of Randhawa's friends had hinted
that the one-year relationship between Randhawa and Uday was rocky
and that this may have led to her suicide.

However, a co-star from detective show 'Special Squad', on condition
of anonymity, said Randhawa was troubled over an earlier failed
relationship. "Uday came into her life when she was lonely and they
became close," said the actor.

Police said the day Randhawa killed herself she made almost 12 calls
to family and friends.

She called Uday thrice and spoke to him at length. "Randhawa's
suicide note and her calling him clearly indicate that she had no
ill-feelings towards Uday. It's a case of suicide due to
depression," said investigating officer PSI R Desai.

"We have been unable to contact Uday as he is shooting in Jammu. We
will need his statement to complete the formalities of the closure,"
he added.

Uday left Mumbai on the day of Randhawa's suicide and had stayed at
Delhi for a day before going to Jammu. "He is in deep shock and
unable to speak," a friend who did not wish to be named said. "None
of us thought she would take such an extreme step. Uday would be the
last person because of whom anybody would commit suicide," the
friend added.
