Gauri Pradhan in Kyunki...
She appears in Special Squad
Kyunki's Nandini, Gauri Pradhan, makes a sartorial statement as she enters the weekly Special Squad.
The quintessential bahu swathed in Balaji finery will now be seen in some clear-cut business suits.
The jangle of her bangles and the shimmery saris have made way for pin-striped jackets and trousers.
Says Pradhan, "Over the years, I have always done one show at a time. Now that I have taken on another assignment, it had to be distinct from Nandini's look."
The actress makes an entry in this UTV show on Star One tonight to take on the affairs of the Special Squad.
"We tried out various looks for the show. Initially, we thought of crisp cotton saris. Then, we tried on a more business-like look. The producers felt it went well with my character."
Pradhan essays the role of Dipika Ghosh who arrives on the scene to lead the team and to take on the paperwork as the squad cracks unsolved cases. "It is an extremely distinct look.
Viewers can now see me in two different styles in both my shows," adds Pradhan who made her small screen debut in the Cinevistaas show Noorjehan (DD) in which she played the title role. "In Noorjehan, it was a royal look and I had to learn Urdu," says the model-turned actress.
As for her role in Kyunki, Nandini is just out of a coma and is trying to push her close pal Tanya (Rakshanda Khan) towards Anish (Sanjit Bedi), unaware that her hubby Karan (Hiten Tejwani) has already married Tanya!
Pradhan has earlier featured in Kutumb (Sony) and Naam Gum Jayega (Sony).
This weekly show on Star One (Mondays, 9.30 pm) consists of an elite squad of crime fighters — attached to the police department — which take on the most deadliest of crimes.
The team is led by Aryan (Bhanu Uday). It chooses real-life dramas which viewers can associate easily.
For instance, in January, the Special Squad had the MMS case in which a New Delhi schoolboy indulged in sex with a female classmate, recorded it on his mobile phone camera and circulated it in the form of MMS.
In March, it had a special series on 'Mumbai Unsafe' which took on encounters, murders, child swapping and eve teasing.
