2. SMILES AND LAUGHS

Parth smiled at Neha, Deepika and Aaryan.

A few minutes later the conversation was in full swing.

Everyone seemed to be eager to tell him of all that had transpired in Special Squad. Everyone, except it seemed, Junhui.

Neha's cubicle

Junhui turned with a file in her hand. She did not know why, but she had an overwhelming desire to look back.

Him!!!!

He was back, albeit with that'..Taara.

She could not help the warm, happy smile that formed on her face.

Well, she thought, her face always lit up when she saw him, rather like the motion sensing tube lights the municipal corporation had set up in their corridors'..When a person walked in, it lit up. When the person went away, it went off.

It was the same'.But here the person was specific.

The more pressing reason, she mused, was the reason why this took place. It was rather puzzling, considering the snide way in which he behaved and all that ignorance, directed especially at her'' Well well well, Mr. Parth Mathur, you are going to receive the same treatment from me.

She squared her shoulders in resolution and turned away.

Inner Cabin

"Are Parth bhaiyya, apne chachu ne humare liye chachi dhoond li!!!!"

Parth looked at Boxer, pleasantly surprised and extremely happy.

He elbowed him, "Kyun Boxer, aur mujhe bataya bhi nahi????"

Boxer blushed.

Neha resumed Ajay's explanation, "Bhabhi ka naam hain Niloufer Khan'.. Special Squad ke cases court main present kar rahi thi'.."

Ajay said, "Aur cases explain karte karte Boxer bhai ne apne feelings bhi express kar liye."

Parth roared and slapped Boxer on his back.

Aaryan smiled happily. He looked at Deepika.

She was sitting near Parth, and at the same moment they looked at each other.

His heart leaped, and Aaryan thought it had stopped breathing altogether.

When Parth asked her a question, she looked away, and the moment passed away, and Aaryan's heart resumed it beating.

He went out of the cabin and glanced at Neha's cubicle.

Junhui was sitting, facing the computer, erect and straight.

3. THE REAL REASON

Discussion table

Special Squad

There was a patter of feet as the rest of the team, namely the ones who had arrived with Parth settled down.

The team was settled around the discussion table; the other four people were given chairs and were sitting with them.

Parth had joined Aaryan at the head leaving Deepika to preside over the other end.

The situation reminded Deepika of the mission they had worked on six months ago.

Parth began with the introduction, "Parth Mathur, In-charge of this operation."

Aaryan said, "Aaryan Khanna, Second in charge of this operation, Chief Investigating officer, Special Squad."

Deepika added, "And Chief of Special Squad."

The rest of the team looked at her, dumbstruck!

Aaryan was reinstated?!?!?!?!?!

Aaryan looked at her pleasantly surprised and happy. That's what the flowers were for, he thought.

She averted her gaze, blushing.

The team looked at both of them happily. Deepika was a good head, but of course, Aaryan was Aaryan.

So long it went down the table- Ajay, Neha, Shreyas, Mala, Deepika, Abbas, Rohit, Rajashree, Junhui, and Taara……

The other officers were, Mala, investigating officer, Rohit and Shreyas, field officers and interrogators, Rajashree, a forensic specialist.

Apart from these two were Parth and Taara, who were acquainted with everyone.

Aaryan spoke up, "Apart from this, we have Shubroto Chatterjee, our forensic expert. He will arrive shortly."

Then he looked up at Parth expectantly to explain the mission.

He began.

"Let me get straight to the point. All of the team, I know is aware of the mission we had successfully executed six months ago. It was spread nation wide and seriously threatened the security of the country. But I think you are not yet aware of the mission in which you are about to take part. It's all right. We have arrived nearly a week before the schedule due to the increasing urgency.

I will send a file to your accounts using the intranet within Special Squad. There is no need to say that the information is extremely confidential."

4. THE TASK AHEAD

Everyone nodded solemnly. Junhui looked thoughtful. "Why us?"

"Aapke Chief ko is prakar ke operations se parichay hain, you all have participated in a previous mission and have contributed a lot to it. Most importantly, you all know Mumbai like the surface of your palm."

She relaxed and frowned.

Seeing no other questions coming, he continued.

"Aap logon ko to Bengluru main hue bomb blasts ke bare main pata hain. Pichle mahine hue in bomb blasts ke investigation Mumbai taka a chuki hain. Mumbai hi is sab ka centre hain. And I need not mention the day the city was held hostage. Aapko jo memo circulate kiye jaayenge unme in sabhi investigation ki details hain. They include official details, notes and diaries of investigating officers. Please be prepared."

From under the desk, he brought out a huge sealed cardboard box. He opened the seal and took out the dossiers. Taara rushed to help him.

She went towards Aaryan's side and distributed it, one by one….. Parth took a single booklet and looked at the person sitting next to Taara……

He tossed the booklet into the box.

When all the dossiers had been distributed by Taara and Neha, Parth said,

"We will resume later. Now, Deepika, kya in officers ka intezam ho sakta hain?"

Deepika got up and nodded. "Sure. Neha?"

Neha nodded graciously and asked the new members to follow her.

Taara, Parth, Aaryan and Deepika walked back to the cabin.

Inner Office

The door swung open and Shotgun entered.

He smiled at Parth.

"Hey Parth kaise ho? Yahaan kaise?"

"Case par, aur kya?" he replied.

Shotgun looked at the other two questioningly.

Deepika: (bengali) "Ye lo."

Aaryan tossed him the booklet.

Shotgun nodded and exited.

A few moments later he was back.
