RS addresses this pretty cleverly in a flashback during the Kans-Asti-Prapti wedding track, when Banasur is trying to hype up Kans as a potential son-in-law and ally to Jarasandh. He tells him that "Chanur--the famous wrestler who even you couldn't defeat--was bested by Kans and brought to Mathura in chains" and then that clip is shown @ 8:42 below (interestingly, with the first Chanoor--none other than the late Shyamsundar Kalani, RSR's Sugreev, who didn't continue the role when the filming moved from Umargaon to Baroda and then it became Shahnawaz Pradhan's 4th role in the show 😆). I think it was an interesting choice to expand Chanoor's role this way with this particular origin story, as it supports the inference that all of these "friends of Kans" (brownie points for using the title of the thread in my post 🤓) were opportunists who sweet-talked/advised him for their own material gain to overcome circumstances like having been his defeated captives. Lots of interesting backstory potential there.
So which source has Chanoor as Kansa's prime minister?
