The song Der Na Kar Prabhu used to be one of my favourite songs though growing up! It's got a sense of familiarity with the God, which I most adore. This quality is present in most of RS' songs! The idea that God is not someone very high and far from you, but he's just as close as you keep him! smiley42

Mine too, sang it at countless satsangs as a kid! And totally get what you mean about the familiarity... haq se telling Bhagwan to come NOW, stop dilly dallying. And the very intentional use of "tu" in lines like "tune hi aag se Prahlad ko bachaaya"... it's one of the songs with very simple, modern Hindi that feels accessible and from the heart, and part of a playlist of RSR and SK songs in my head that stay relevant as regular bhajans applying to today's world, rather than just describing/pertaining to the part of the story they're used on in the shows.

Aww and look at Devaki maiya sassing that guard master! He's so freaking terrified at the prospect of him being framed for the terrible Gods and their lack of flower-cleaning facilities! 🤣

One of my all-time FAVORITE scenes! It accomplishes so much in terms of bhakti, sweetness, and comedy all at once... and we get this adorable glimpse of what Devaki maiya's personality might have been like before all the tragedy we see her endure. I like to think that the natkhat-ness she shows in this scene is where her son gets it from 😆 And adore your daily cleanup headcanon as well, HAS to be true!

Maharshi Garg is soo serene hun, just such a lovely param bhakt!

He gets better and better--as I mentioned with reference to his first scene that was one of the deleted scenes, every time he comes onscreen he imparts a really valuable lesson--in this one, "jo sabki raksha karne wale hai, unki chinta main kyun karunga?", in the previous one, "tum hote kaun ho kuchh karne wale?"... and he does it with such sass and charisma that it makes the lessons go down that much more smoothly! It's a gyaan latte 😆

All the girls have a such a lovely relation with Nand Baba! The way they pull him to dance with them! 😆❤️

Another favorite little moment... I can just picture Akrur and Rohini teasing him about it afterwards 😆

I always wondered why it looked that way, and now I know from that interview with Shahnawaz ji that it was intentional, so that we wouldn't recognize him in his 4th role on the show 😆 He even mentioned other prosthetics that made his eyes pop out and look more villainous... hats off, even after watching for over 25 years with a fine-toothed comb I never figured it out 😆

Aww look at Nand baba, himself rushing in to see baby Balram! And aah, look at the little tyke's face....all RS' serial babies are so amazingly cute!

LOVE it!!! Again, proof of why these people were the chosen ones is in these little moments... he's as restless before and ecstatic after the birth of Balram as if it were his own child ❤️

OMG Krishna's birth is here!

Devaki's love for Krishna is soo great! The main point, why go after moksha when you can have the moksha-daata!

My favorite thing about this whole dialogue is--she's not telling him "I want to *have* you as a son", she's saying "I want to *love* you as only a mother can"--getting annoyed at you when you cause trouble, aching for you when you're hurt, gushing over your every little antic. It's such a divine thing to ask for, the true meaning of vaatsalya personified--a mood in which to worship God and immerse yourself in a loving bond with him. And the fact that she made that real for herself even from afar, without seeing him... is it any surprise I revere them so much!

Pro, all the Janmashtami episodes are simply classic and full of divinity from beginning to end. You can feel the love and devotion from both couples: Devaki-Vasudev and Nand-Yashoda. You feel like you're experiencing their excitement and anticipation along with them. The flower scene in the jail cell is one of my favorite scenes. It's so cute, funny and divine all at the same time! 😆

Yup, I'm just savouring it, watching only a few minutes at a time! ❤️

True, those songs were truly heart touching! ❤️ I still have a notebook somewhere with all the lyrics written down! 🤣

Ooh, imagine someone trying to complain to Devaki about Krishna...would get that shiz right back! 🤣

Ooh! True, those guys did such an excellent job. Proof of why doing something for God will always pay off! ❤️

I love his entire relationship with Balarama. Nand baba loves him to bits, just like if he were his own kid, but there's also this underlying current of respect since Dau is after all the prince and the possible heir of that dynasty! ❤️

Acha could you tell me more about the origins of the name Dau bhaiya? 😳

My old chotu DVD has this as the first Devaki scene after her marriage, and I absolutely fell in love with her then and there even though at that time I had no idea about motherly love or anything. It was just like yeah here's a lady worth loving!❤️
