Shobhna is not a fictional character, she existed at that time. I have read a novel by K. M. Munshi- "Jay Somnath", in that Bhimdev married Chaula & Shobhna dies trying to save temple. Gazni succedsin the end.

i think this show is based on that novel..as the 1st name of d show was jai somnath...

This show is based on Acharya Chatursen Shasti's novel "Somnath Mahalaya".

hmm that proves may be shobha existed but the legend of shobha is not famous enough its confined in gujrat only...then the show is a good effort...

i was also thinking in the starting that may be shobhna's character is fictitious...but after watching the 1st episode i thought if chalukyas are there bhimdev is there and they are real character's then may b shobhna is also a real character...and as meenakshi mentioned the book and she's gujarati she must be having vast knowledge of it...i don't have any doubts now...thanks meenakshi😃

I think its a legend or a folk story, half fiction and half real. Its based on true historical events with a fictional twist. Shobhna is only a fictional character. They actually even say that the story of Shobhna was told by mothers for generation. BhimDev, Ghazi, the mandhir being robed, all that is true. But the character of Shobhna is just a story,possibly based on the novel. If she was indeed a real character, I am sure we could fine at least one source that talked about her. No such thing comes up on the internet. If she was so heroic, some information should be found at the least. Never the less, its still a great historical serial to watch, because you still get to see that time period, the types of crimes they fought, traditions and the lifestyle.

Ghazni mahmud looted somnath temple numerous times. When Bhimdev recontructed it he gave a very tough fight to ghazni. mahmud. You can find the details in a historical novel called Jai Somnath written by KM Munshi. It is very interesting and accurate. If anybody wants the king shall give details from that novel.

As far as the king knows Bhimdev was positive character. The had also mentioned this is PRC forum many times. Shall clarify it after completing some more research on this issue.
