Character Based Review- 27th March 2021

ShaKhi are making serious progress. Shaurya thinks they didn't fight for a whole evening. I say they didn't fight for 2 and a half episodes. Of course, there was some irritation from Shaurya's side and rain of taunts from Anokhi, still they managed to get through this together and I loved it. In this episode:

Shaurya: The physical attraction is developing. Initially, I and a lot of others from EDT noticed he didn't stare at her like MLs from other shows. As a professor, it would not suit his character. But since we live in the ITV world, bringing this attraction equation was inevitable. "Woh magnet wali baat logon pe bhi apply hoti hain kya" Yes Professor sahab, ITV mein toh hoti hain. I wish he a physics professor instead of Economics. Ye baat jaldi samajh aati use. I feel safer by how they brought intellectual attraction before physical attraction. It's just me personally who thinks staring at a student will be creepy, but it's subjective. Also the CVs are dealing with a taboo love story, so they needed to be careful about it. I wish they didn't switch back and forth between their scene and Devi's scene. It did not flow well especially with the two entirely opposite bgms they played. So ShaKhi slept in the car. Too close to each other. Her head on his shoulder. One of my KPs is fulfilled. KP means Khayali pulao invented by us EDT waasis. Must say Shaurya doesn't mind a lot of things Anokhi says or does. She taunts him, laughs at his words. He even wants her to not call him sir. The previous Shaurya would have said she was doing all this to gain attention, especially by the way she hid in his arms seeing an animal that we don't if really existed. Everything seems to have improved over a sorry. I am happy as a ShaKhi fan. Having no real life experience, I don't know if it's actually possible. Having said that, I didn't appreciate that he wants Anokhi to not call him sir inside the college. Outside college is fine, but inside the campus where even kitty-bebo and Shagun too used to call him sir, it looks a bit too much. Inside the campus, he is her teacher and they shouldn't mix the professional and personal equation. I also liked the way he arranged the room for Anokhi. Initially, I thought he would vacate the room anyhow by ousting a random girl who actually needs it for Anokhi. That would be so unfair. So he vacates the room registered under Kitty-Bebo's name. I wish he confronts them whenever they come in front of him. After Anokhi leaves, he sees Shagun and his photo lying on the floor. Did they change the actress? I don't think he kept it on purpose. He doesn't even miss her. All he thinks about is Anokhi these days. I guess it was randomly stuck in the scene to foreshadow her arrival. Then he returns home and goes to his Badi Ma. I don't want to talk about the scene in between as all his scenes with that girl are unnecessary. In his scene with Devi, he gets emotionally blackmailed and gives a promise. Looks like Badi Ma will bring Shagun now and ask him to marry her.

Anokhi: She was looking so cute while sleeping. Truly a baby. Even cuter when she screamed and hid in his arms. I find it amusing how she taunts and has fun with her teacher. We and Shaurya know that he won't mind. Anokhi doesn't. That only means she too has started seeing him as something more than a teacher. Maybe like Aastha? Shaan did say Shaurya was like Aastha many times in the beginning episodes. If Anokhi wants to give Shaurya a place equal to Aastha now, I won't mind. We all have our favorite teachers and he desperately needs to be on her favorite list. And I desperately need a monologue from her side. So far we know about Shaurya's conflicted emotions regarding her. I would love to know her side of the story. We still don't know why she thought of Shaurya when asked about her favorite person. Oh! News of the Day: Anokhi sees Shaurya and Shagun's photo. It was lying amidst a pile of files. I guess he forgot to trash it when he threw all the flowers and cards. Shaurya entered the room soon after so she had to let it go. She didn't even ask him who it was. The Anokhi I knew from Aastha track would deffo ask him. Maybe she realized it was not nice to enter his privacy. That's good progress. Shaurya let her know about the room allocation and she left soon afterward. By the way, I didn't know colleges had bells. In my college, each student has a different schedule with different timings and we are responsible for attending the classes accordingly. We are not patronized by bells. Guess it's a Chandigarh thing?

Devi: Finally my favorite villain got some attention. After ShaKhi she was the star of the show. Kaise buddhu banaya na Shaurya ko. aur who ban bhi gaya typical ITV ML ke mafiq. Once again, the parallel scenes between Devi and Shakhi could move in a smoother way had they edited it nicely. I observed she calls Shaurya mera beta mera beta when she is by herself as well (something which Aastha doesn't so often) Now if it insecurity or she is outright evil I don't know. She might just be insecure as a result of infertility and want the heir of the family all by herself. Today, I realized she has no problems with Shaurya liking/loving someone. She has problems with Shaurya liking/loving anything or anyone related to Aastha. That's why she kept him away from Shaan despite being in the same house. Now she is keeping him away from Anokhi. Anokhi is, after all, Aastha's student. So I am more inclined to the fact that she is insecure about her position in the family but really loves Shaurya.

Kitty-Bebo: Thank god they are shown fighting. Else I thought Bebo makes plans and Kitty follows them without a word. When they were fighting over the phone, for a second I thought they were actually normal. Back to business, I think Bebo and Anmol will be noticed by Anokhi when they go to do something over her room (now Anokhi's) in SIAC. There is a reason why Bebo suddenly has a room there and Anokhi was allotted the same room.

Precap: Iss scene se main nahi bachungi. They are asking Shaurya of his dream girl. Normally, in ITV I have seen the FL being asked the same question, and seeing the ML being asked the same is equally boring. One thing I know is that Shaurya is attracted to intellect. Shagun was a topper in her times and same with Anokhi. But here is the problem: Millions of modern-day men want a smart and intelligent girl to match their status and millions of modern-day girls are smart and intelligent. Anokhi and Shagun both are the same. However there is a reason Shaurya will love one over the other. Shagun is someone he wanted and Anokhi is someone who needs.

I think Shaurya always had some physical possessiveness towards Anokhi... Plus staring from far as a form of creepiness is way more acceptable than running around behind a woman and manhandling and grabbing her at convenience. But today seems like it was another level of realization he had regarding his own need to have her so close to him. He seemed to really have had a good night today🤣.

What I particularly liked was while he was just doing his random touching on her face, she did grab his hand bringing him out of trance... It was different she took it near her heart😆 not sure if it was more to do with writer's intention or a way of refusing advances.. Shaurya did stop after that and slept aaram se...

The most realistic thing was that after getting up he did Indicate pain in hands🤣while stretching it... And I loved how he was kind of worried after when she got up after being scared of inexistent animal... He shook his hand.. And probably he was worried about his attraction towards her. I will try uploading picture later on.

Shaan and Astha are probably going to continue their romance. I know you haven't added Astha.. But I liked how she was worried that Anokhi did not message them.

Overall, I do want to understand Shaurya's expression change after she said ehsan and favour. I was confused.

Shagun... Not going to talk about it.

I was so disappointed with Shagun's return that I could barely think much about the episode in general.

Shaurya is realizing his attraction towards Anokhi and he is crossing a few boundaries too. The car scene was good. I loved the instrumental that played in the background. The way Shaurya opened the door for Anokhi and offered her his cabin to freshen up would be seen as bias which is unfair in a college campus. Aren't there washrooms for students in this supposedly elite college? Shaurya still covers up the wrongdoings of his family. He did not try to investigate why Bebo and Kitty's names were in the hostel list. As per the promo he is going to accept that he is in love.

Anokhi's reaction to the picture was not surprising. She may have some feelings for Shaurya but she doesn't know if he reciprocates. Yes, she is that dumb. Even if she thought it was his gf, she respected his privacy. So I think for her the studies are still a priority and she does not want to think much about her own budding feelings. The girl is going to be given hope only to be crushed by the arrival of Shagun.

Devi is insecure and I agree she loves Shaurya. It is just that her love is not unconditional like that of a mother. A real mother does not keep reiterating "mera beta". That is why Aastha doesn't even if she yearns for him. Devi does because she is still afraid of losing him. She is going to play Shaurya and make him promise. The promise that she will utilize judiciously in the future.

Aastha is still sceptical of restarting the relationship unlike Shaan. Perhaps she is afraid of getting disappointed again. She is worried about Anokhi and rightly so.

Who is kitty and who is Bebo, I am still confused. Won't comment about them until I get a clearer picture.

I had every intention of writing a full on commentary on your review, but then the promo dropped and I'm in fangirl heaven! The show is moving along for me to dwell on too many negatives. But I still want to comment so here goes.

I liked that little moment of self realization of attraction. He hasn't really gotten a chance to stare down Anokhi, since their eye lock is always two sided. He finally got a chance to admire her beauty as much as he has subconsciously admired her character. It's the one thing that's been different for SAAKK so far, Shaurya hasn't really gone ga-ga over just seeing Anokhi. I feel like that will be in the cards. We need an occasion where she's really done up and he kind of loses his mind. Someone on twitter commented that he fell for her "Sirat and not Surat". That doesn't mean I'm not superficial enough to want that for ShaKhi.

I feel safer by how they brought intellectual attraction before physical attraction.

I make it a point to watch the episode before I come on IG, Twitter, or IF now because I would always view the show through others lens. I really enjoyed that cutting back and forth because it went with the direction of the story. Devi's fear and Shaurya's happiness. And we know Devi is selfish that she will prioritize keeping Shaurya away from Aastha/Anokhi than even consider his actual happiness.

So ShaKhi slept in the car. Too close to each other. Her head on his shoulder. Must say Shaurya doesn't mind a lot of things Anokhi says or does. She taunts him, laughs at his words.

I think the BTS had made people think that Ahir would interrupt them. I'm glad we got three episodes of ShaKhi heavy scenes because I see a lot of angst in our future. I love angst and I'm ready for it. I think Shaurya now thinks everything Anokhi does is cute........it's the honeymoon phase! She's pulling his leg and he's receptive to her comments. She listens to him and he listens to her. I can't believe as a viewer I forgave Shaurya that fast.....I'm so fickle! The power of ITV sorries.

Shaurya entered the room soon after so she had to let it go. She didn't even ask him who it was. The Anokhi I knew from Aastha track would deffo ask him. Maybe she realized it was not nice to enter his privacy. That's good progress.

Can we say character growth? Anokhi doesn't inquire about everything and confront everything. Also, it's none of her business!

Do you think the hostel room is where they party? But didn't the person say it was allotted by management? Are the VIP kids keeping a room for themselves? This is an interesting storyline. Was there anything similar in Mohar?

I totally agree with this. Anokhi and Shagun on paper seem the same. But where Shagun never inspired strong feelings in Shaurya, Anokhi has forced him to turn a new leaf. Shagun met all the standards for a Sabherwal bahu, especially because she was done with her education too(until she decided on a PhD). Anokhi is just starting her education, so she's not giving anything up, anytime soon. This difference is soch between the Sabherwals and their future bahu is the crux of this story! I like the way you said one was a want and the other is a need.

Now back to watching this week's episodes again and living the fangirl life! Can't wait for Monday!

Yes, kind of. But he didn't stare at her like that before. I think I am used to random pulling and picking of hands because that's what they do in every ITV serial. Because the staring part came in one of my conversations at another post, I was attentive to that.

I think this was improvised by Kv and Deb and not really the writers. As per his interview, they do improvise a lot of scenes.

I didn't find the scene meaningful enough to talk about it. One day she seems biased towards, the other towards Anokhi. The actress is an experience one. I wish they use her talent wisely.

Exactly, the previous Shagun had class and at least matched with Shaurya. The one they are bringing now is meh. I have seen her before and I can say she is no less than Kanchan in terms of emoting and dialogue delivery.

Bebo: There is a thin line between attraction and falling. No girl would fall for a guy over cheesy lines, flowers and gifts IMO. The age Bebo is in, I won't blame her for thinking she is in love with AA. AA seems to have not-so-nice plans. I hope she doesn't land herself in trouble from a physical perspective. Emotionally, I don't count it as love, so nothing there.

Shaurya : The physical attraction is beginning to kick in but as expected Shaurya is the only one who senses it, Anokhi is still unaware in her innocence. He had only intended to make her comfortable and let her sleep but the ensuing closeness really impacted him. I wonder if it was because he really looked at her for the first time without any negative emotions - jealousy, fear, anger or hate and for the first time she was quite in that moment instead of needling him. They have always been comfortable with each other physically but the fact Shaurya wanted to hold her and caress her hairs when she was asleep seemed odd. He is no pervert but would he have gone further if she had not held his hand in sleep. Was he that smitten that he lost his control but he did not show any guilt when the trance got broken so that does not seem to be the case.

Anokhi : I get her comfort with Shaurya, they have been in many life-threatening situations together and that tends to change the equation between a couple but I am lost as to what she thinks of Shaurya. She keeps switching between treating him as a friend, as a teacher and as her teacher's son. Shaurya has been giving her mixed signs too- on one hand he has requested not to be called "Sir" as he is no longer her teacher but at the same time has emphatically stated that she is not special to him as a person. He would do what he does for her for anyone in her shoes and her intelligence/potential. Her complete lack of concern next morning and comfort with Shaurya after the position that they woke up in seemed odd for someone with her upbringing. Maybe she decided to downplay the situation and not create any awkwardness. Based on Reema's nudge in precap and promo, how does she make the leap to love. If your teacher treats you special, it normally means that he is biased for you in professional capacity not that he is attracted to you. I guess because of the speed, Anokhi's progression to love is lost.

Devi : Strangely Anokhi meets the criterion for Sabherwal daughter-in-laws in general based on Gayatri's statement in earlier episodes. Pretty women from poor families so that they can be controlled eventually and be forced to obey family rules. I guess she dislikes Anokhi because she is strong/outspoken, Astha's protege and has a huge influence on Shaurya. She would be hard to control and may pave way for Astha's return. Her fear of losing Shaurya is driving her, however how insane she gets makes me wonder if there is more to the story and why she wants to hold on to Shaurya. I wonder what she will ask as the promise

- He marry Shagun (but what does that get her),

- He throw Anokhi out of his life (he can do that but it will only make him more resentful, Shaan has proven out of sight does not mean out of heart)

- He continues to stay at Sabherwal house after his marriage even if it is with Anokhi

- He can marry Anokhi but she will have to be a home maker.

SAIC: Someone mentioned it is odd that no one has noticed Shaakhi and there seems to be no rumors. I think there are rumors but they are not surfacing enough in campus, afterall who wants to take on Shaurya Sabherwal, that would be like career suicide. Also most people would have trouble understanding the relationship. He seems to hate her for most part not love her based on all the scenes that played out in general public. Whatever he did for her in ragging incident and cheating incident can be considered being fair instead of him supporting her. How can you read anymore in the behavior of your stoic teacher who is leaving to manage a different campus but is known for his kind and student friendly attitude. Besides for most people, it would be hard for them to understand what Shaurya would see in Anokhi.

Shagun and Timeline : What is the timeline of this story? How many months has it been since Anokhi has been studying in Chandigarh? How come Shagun is back and that too after breaking her engagement over it. Is she just here temporarily for her spring break or something?

The only good thing with Ahir and Shagun is that it drives the point that Shaakhi chose each other amongst all available options and did not settle.

I think anokhi is also sensing that something has changed between them ..the way he was so desperate to stop her from leaving and actually followed them and kidnapped her just to say sorry n convince her to go bk ..she was thrilled with the attention she got...in no time she will realize she is falling for him. As for physical attraction goes, I love it ..I love the love stories whose premise is on attraction..kyy was the first one I saw ...I believe it's so natural to be drawn to someone ...n it's OK..n like you said they have been close in a lot of situations before but there was never any awkwardness..n everytime it was shaurya who initiated it (like the dance ..riots ..helping her out with the lights etc) ...this time they were one step ahead...anokhi shares a certain comfort level with him which she doesn't share with any other male...she invades his emotional space like nobody else and he does it with her personal space..n this is what is bringing them closer..

Devi. It's an interesting take. What cud possibly be the problem with anokhi? Probably she knows anokhi is a rebel who will never fit into the sabarwal bahu mould n shaurya is no Shaan. He will rebel too..infact if he acts like a wall to her , this is what the audience wanna see , but devi will be the one who will have max problem. She is overtly possessive for shaurya (God knows why ) ..this family is always into emotional blackmailing kr I did so and so for you ,time for you to payback. High time shaurya realizes ke aisa nai hota families mein. She can manipulate shaurya anytime , press the wrong buttons and get what she wants..its upto anokhi to balance it out after they get married.

My only concern is the worry that should have been on Rama's face of not getting message from Anokhi was on Astha's face.

😆 But pulling grabbing and dragging looks awfully creepy in college campus. Just because it is ShaKhi I am fine with it...
