Yes indeed, you got it right! Payal is behaving in ways that she has been socialised. Therefore sanskari bahu behavior is, really speaking, approval seeking behavior.

So far what I have understood of Payal is that she is book smart, but cannot think beyond what she has been taught at home by her parents...this can be lack of exposure of parents or some restrictions mainly coming form her mum. Agree, while going for the wedding despite warning from GK she was thinking of her parents, but at the same time she had brought herself a dark future surrounded by wolves...what was that??? No parent would agree to that...defending it on Chaibasa being the small town...but there someone has to be the first, why not she...isn't she the first female engineer working for a government. I am really disgusted...just reading updates...
Sanskari here translates to a set of social norms dictating what types of behaviors are considered acceptable or appropriate of a bahu. Payal has heard her parents ask her to be one and has been praised by her in-laws for being one. She has not recognized that her parents definition of sanskari is different from that of her in-laws.
I think you meant sanskar of a girl as daughter and as bahu. Payal has been a sanskari beti and her father is proud of that whereas her mother doesn't approve her most actions. So sadly she continues to reinforce behavior that earns her praise but contradictory to her upbringing. She has no exemplar of sanskari bahu to model herself after. Her mother has muddled her thinking with concepts of compromise without giving any guidance about what is acceptable and what is unacceptable compromise.I dont think any one can spoon feed a person about right and wrong. One has to have own convictions to differentiate between right & wrong keeping aside the acceptability. Compromise is the most misused term in life which causes accumulation of negativity in a person leading to explosions later destroying everything. So Payal convinces herself that what is praise worthy behavior is the right sanskari behavior.

I have not seen any quality in Payal which differentiates her from any other next door girl. As you rightly said she's just book smart and being part of a small town people respect her achievement in academics and job. The job has given her some level of confidence which she exhibits in small bits. But her overall character so far has not been impressive.

I want to see what those people have to say when they will come to know that Payal had married Dev knowing the reality of his family. I don't think even a single person would appreciate...
So far the show has not been able to crystallise the central theme and lets hope the CVs of this show are sensible to maintain an interesting track.
