Fooling Gulkand is not an easy task, but the Prasad family is bent on hoodwinking their dharmically upright daughter-in-law and will go to great lengths to ensure that she is not in their way of bringing home a cash cow, a new Gai, whose name is actually "Rai," and who is a woman in a prestigious and lucrative job.

Today we saw the Prasads reaching a new low by staging an instantaneous charade of their daughter Guddi's wedding. That there was neither wedding, not groom, did not dampen their spirits one bit to assemble an extempore street theater of sorts, where each person became a prop in the hands of the master choreographer, Jug Prasad. Jug carried himself with the finesse of a director, who was also starring in his own production, where life sized deities of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita, embodiments of dharma, mute witnesses, hazily grace the backdrop of a web of falsehoods.

Unknowingly, and betrayed by her own husband, to whom she had just started to relate with newfound respect, Gulkand walked into the Prasad mansion, a sordid five star version of a roach motel of sorts, baited like an animal into a trap. A strong, fierce and independent woman, Gulkand's very strength is becoming her weakness to be exploited by her in-laws. Her love of justice today was milked to the greatest extent by Greedy Jug, unscrupulous Ayyo, spineless Santoshy, and gullible Guddi, who felt no qualms at lying to Gulkand and manipulating her to divesting her jewels.

In Chaibasa, a parallel scenario was being enacted, where another proponent of values and justice, PWD engineer Payal Rai was battling her own demons when confronted with her brother's deceit of using her name to get his permit expressly without her permission. For women, often, it is a real quandary of balancing delicate relationships in the family and also being true to their value systems.

Today's episode and the precap showed how the institution of patriarchy thrives even in contemporary society, and how women such as Santoshy and Guddi are sadly among its supporters. Women like Gulkand and Payal, who wish to live freely and do what is correct, and desire to have dharma guide them in their lives suffer at the hands of those who wish to perpetuate this institution, and end up being scapegoats. It would be interesting to see where the story goes from here. Will Anklet (Payal) and Rose Tonic (Gulkand) beat all the odds and join hands to teach this coterie a lesson? We as the audience certainly hope so.

What a brilliant write up on yesterday's episode👏 I took more than few minutes to respond 'cause I just loved rereading ur expression of thoughts ..which is PERFECT on every character involved.

Am afraid that Dev's love for Payal will be exploited much below to what we saw yesterday. Am sure Payal will deal with Ayo-Jog in her own intelligent way and Gulkand will join in with her extra dose.

Hope to get many such posts from you😃

@ kratikasengarks

Thank you for your remarks. Your observation about the street charade in the future creating problems for the family is astute.

@pree

Thank you, dear.

Superb analysis on the moral grounds around which the story revolves. The PH sells it as a "new twist to the dowry system". To me, however, the story is - exactly what you have mentioned - about "Dharma vs Deceit".
Thank you for this insightful post!
