Pawan Kalyan is a hit not just with the Tollywood audiences, but also the filmmakers. And for good reason. T-town's "Gabbar Singh" has reportedly decided to compensate the producers if he ever causes any delays or cancellations in the shooting of his movies. This latest buzz has taken the industry by surprise. Sources close to the actor say that Pawan took this decision in view of the chaos caused during the shooting of his upcoming film — "Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu".
Recently, scores of fans thronged Ameerpet, where the star is currently shooting for the Puri Jagannadh movie, produced by DVV Danayya, to get a glimpse of their favourite actor. And not too surprisingly, the Pawan-crazy mobs were impossible to control. A source from the movie's production house, tells us, "The film's unit had a tough time dealing with the fans and we eventually had to stop the shooting for sometime. Looking at all the chaos that was caused due to this, Pawan has decided that from now on, he will compensate his filmmakers for any monetary loss or delays that arise due to him while shooting. The decision by the star took the director and producer of the movie by complete surprise. It could very well mark the beginning of a new trend."
This decision by Pawan Kalyan ushers in a new ray of hope for T-town producers, who often have to deal with the uncontrollable star mania that takes a toll on the film's budget whenever a top actor is roped in.
In fact, just recently, Mahesh Babu's shoot for "Seetamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu" in Dilsukhnagar had to be stalled when the star's fans mobbed the sets just to get a dekko of him. Things got so out of hand that the film unit decided to shoot those scenes in Ahmedabad! A source from the sets, says, "Such incidents obviously cause a loss both in terms of expenditure and dates. Even though the actor isn't really to be blamed, it often becomes a challenge to finish the shooting within the schedule, with fans thronging the sets becoming a common affair."
Producer MS Raju however, is of the opinion that proper planning on the part of the filmmakers can prevent such hurdles. "I worked with stars like Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu and Prabhas, but, I'm fortunate to have never experienced any shooting disruptions due to fans. One of the reasons is that my film sets were always erected far away from the city. Moreover, if you plan things well and work in tandem with the police, shooting can progress smoothly without any obstacles."
But with Pawan taking such a generous step, we wonder if any other Tollywood actor is taking notes?
