Dulquer Salmaan to debut in Tamil

The son of Malayalam actor Mammootty has signed a film with director duo JD-Jery

There's news about Dulquer Salmaan, the son of Malayalam Mega Star Mammootty. The youngster, who debuted in Malayalam earlier this year with Second Show, will do a Tamil film that will be helmed by noted ad filmmakers JD and Jery, who earlier directed the Ajith-Vikram-starrer Ullasam, and Whistle. The duo also worked along with Shankar for Rajinikanth's Sivaji and have directed TV commercials for top brands in Tamil Nadu.
Confirming the news, JD says, "Yes, Dulquer Salmaan will be making his Tamil debut with our film. Though he has signed up, we are working out a few other details regarding the film which will be finalized in June. The heroine will also be zeroed in on by then."
Prod him for more details and all the director is willing to say is, "We want to make a splash while officially announcing the project."
Industry insiders reveal that the filmmakers had directed an ad featuring Mammootty last year and the actor was hugely impressed by their work and this was one of the major factors in the duo bagging the project. We also hear that the film will be a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual that will go on floors by July. Meanwhile, Dulquar's second film, Ustad Hotel, is releasing on May 25. The actor is also doing a film with director Priyadarshan, in which he plays the son of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal.

IT'S FAMILY TIME

Mammootty has always been known to be a family man, which is probably why a family vacation has been a priority. "Mammootty and his wife Sulfath, Dulquar and his wife Mal Sulfi are on a two-week European tour. They took off to London first and currently, they are in Casablanca. This is the family's first vacation together after Dulquer's wedding late last year," informs a source close to Dulquer.
