Though it is a comedy show per se, Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla has a unique concept. An excited Shekhar Suman says: "There will be a group of four contestants in each team which will have a judge as a mentor. They will prepare skits or a short play in each episode which will be judged."
"I agreed to be part of the show as, for one, I have had a long association with STAR. Secondly, the format is different from other comedy shows we have seen in the past. This new venture is interesting and challenging. One can perform comedy in a variety of situations and give it diverse flavours. There are basically three genres of reality shows on television โdancing, singing and comedy."
He has had some association or the other with the rest of the judges and Shekhar is looking forward to further interaction. "It will be tough for all four participants to work in tandem. As judges, we will get an opportunity to mentor and guide them. If we feel the need, we can jump in the arena and perform once in a while too, which has never been done and should be fun. We have shot the first episode and it was great fun."
The 20 contestants will be a mix of television actors and stand-up comedians including Supriya Pilgaonkar, Rashmi Desai, Aashka Goradia, Sudesh Lahiri, Raju Shrivastav, Kapil Sharma, Salini Daini, Rehman, Sunil Grover and Kuldeep. Moreover, each team will also have one new face which will add fresh talent to the group.
Ask Shekhar which team has the best talent and he laughs, "That is a difficult question. Every team has at least one wonderful and strong performer. Let's wait and watch."
