It isn't just Bollywood actors who go the extra mile to prepare for their roles. Today, TV stars are getting just as method-oriented and thorough in their preparation for their roles. Be it the perfectionist Aamir Khan learning the Bhojpuri dialect or Kangana Ranaut stealing the thunder with her flawless Haryanvi accent, we have numerous instances of movie stars learning and mastering a new language or sporting a different look to get into the skin of their characters! The most recent addition to this clique of well-researched and prepared actors is Mohit Sehgal who is busy preparing for his role of Somendra -a carefree, young boy from the rural interiors of UP in his upcoming Zee TV show Sarojini. A complete departure from the urbane, suave characters he has played so far, Mohit has taken up the challenge of perfecting the UP accent to portray his character convincingly on screen!

Apart from learning a whole new language, he also has to work on his demeanor and body language to capture the essence of his character perfectly. The charming actor is putting in extra efforts, from rigorously rehearsing his lines in the UP accent to following the tips and guidelines from the creative team. The handsome actor, known for his casual, under-stated sense of style both on and off screen will be sporting bright printed shirts, big buckle belts, colored jackets and jhataak shoes to enhance his somewhat flamboyant, small-town character...

Mohit says, "I have portrayed a number of different characters ranging from positive roles to those with grey shades, so it was a challenge for me to play the character of the bindaas, small-town bloke Somendra in this show. As an actor it is vital to come out of one's comfort zone and surprise the viewers with different avatars to provide them with more entertainment. Though it is challenging, I'm having a great time perfecting the UP accent to play the part flawlessly!"

About his role, he adds, "Somendra is a smooth talker and knows his way around people, especially his father who otherwise is an authoritative figure but has a very special soft corner for him. Also, it is a pleasure & a great learning experience to work with a versatile actor like Pankaj Tripathi as one can imbibe so much by just observing him enact a sequence. In fact, he's guided me on how to get a hold over the UP diction so that it looks effortless considering he has been part of movies based on UP. I play his son in the show and the way the father-son relationship has been captured will make for an interesting watch. I am eagerly looking forward to the audience response!"

We hope Mohit's sincere efforts to play his part flawlessly are appreciated by his fans!

Starting 20th July, Sarojini will air every Monday to Saturday at 6:30 PM, only on Zee TV.

Wow I love this article!! This is the best article that I've read on Mohit. Thanks for sharing Soup totally made my day ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Mohit my method actor he has been like that since day one. Always put extra effort and research behind his characters and I love this approach of his, I also love the fact that he always checks out his shots in the monitor after the take has been okayed that's also an old habit of his. And yes he has the innate ability to learn from the veterans around him and that always improves his performance drastically and takes it a notch higher. During QH it was alkaji and Tej Sapru that brought out the best in him and here I'm so glad that we have an actor as phenomenal as Pankaj Tripathi and their scenes together are definitely something special and he definitely brings out the best in Mohit ๐Ÿ‘ And yes I have noticed the accent is very much smooth and effortless these days compared to before and we have Pankaj sir to thank for it. He is a great teacher and Mohit is a really good student hope he keeps learning and growing like this and sky is the limit.
