Wow the lyrics of the second title song sound beautiful ❤️

Utkarsh: Daastan Ye unke Milan ki...
Soorya Aur Chandra ke iss chalan ki... PremKahani ye ek Grahan ki... #Nostalgia #Saraswatichandra

Thanks for sharing utkarshji's interview. The show reflected vision and ambition at the time of his association with the show. His team with SLB at the helm of things weaved magic and charm in saras & kumud's romance and subtlety in their relationship. Here he spoke about how saras & kumud characters were conceptualised as unique and exemplary personalities.

Even his recent tweets showed how the writer is attached to this project. Utkarsh deserves our appreciation and respect for making this dream become a reality at least for a finite period of time with his wonderful writing and complexity and depth of thought. That's why the old version of SC has made an indelible impression on us. Who can forget the sublime display of romance and the plenty of fascinating samud moments we feasted on. He was ingenious enough to overcome the constraints and limitations of daily soaps and his treatment was refreshing as well as poignant. In fact the whole backend team had done a commendable job. The level of writing and execution was above par and the ensemble cast was wonderful choice of actors. One of the best things that happened with SC was that GR's class talent was brought into light and for Jen too it was her career best role.

The terrible blunder made by SP was the wrong choice of PH who didn't understand the value and the classic nature of the project. And at the hands of the new creatives' team the Pramad track started to disintegrate and kumud character began to fall apart. Then they introduced the most offensive Kusum angle. Though the idea of turning a loving sister into diabolical was disgusting the track centered around samud and explored their anguish, love and relationship well. Then the wedding sequence and the associated samud moments were delightful and handled with considerable finesse.

After that the story was diluted and was fraught with cliche & illogical tracks, character butchery and fabricated drama. The SM resurrection was the result of a dearth of story ideas and creative bankruptcy on their (cvs) part. It showed their irreverent attitude towards the original classic and the childhood trauma of saras which built up his complete persona. They failed to value and retain good and vital old characters of SC, but unwarrantably brought in kabir & SM characters. Even danny was under utilised and ultimately became a property at the backdrop. (Recently I even wrote about my favourite saras-danny combo which was not given the due attention for long and their terrific bonding in the 'Saras - Danny' post).

Regarding samud marriage, I respect UN's POV, but I'd like to disagree on this. Even SLB's promo said 'ab hogi poori' right? Saras & kumud are not paro and devdas. SLB's interpretation of the story and that of the leads were different from the original. The show was touted as a poignant love story and saras was portrayed as a passionate lover , more sensitive and a more mellow personality. The show is a modern day adaptation where samud not getting married would have been regressive. W.r.t to daily soaps prolonged tragedy and pathos will not click with the audience. The main drawback was that after their wedding no new facets of their characters and relationship were explored.

The makers didn't take any fruitful measures to revive the show even to a reasonable extent when the show was in a shambles and needed a major overhaul. Even UN must have been aware of the shoddy status of the show though he can't openly admit it. Hope his next venture in collaboration with GR is as wondrous as the old SC.

Thanks for sharing. lal04, very well written post by you as always. You have put down all the points very well. I would also disagree with UN with regard to the marriage of Saras & Kumud and comparing them with Devdas and Paro. To each his own.. so I am happy that the show ended with them married and having a baby too. With all the ups and downs and stupidest of tracks also, I guess alls well that ends well.

The song was good. Wish they had shown it.
But his views were shocking. Shows how these minds worked.

Saras's Mom creates a vacuum that justifies kumud's presence in his life? Really? The fact that she healed his wounds is a plus. But didn't he fall for her much before?= In the original, saras falls for kumud just by reading her letters and goes to meet her and they have romantic rendezvous. And Saras's mom didn't commit suicide in the novel. Saras just fell for her because it just had to happen. If that could happen in original, then why not here. I thought the wounds saras had were to justify his stoic nature and fear of relationships and to give some more weight to kumud Sundari's character. And of course to show the humane side of saras who is sensitive.

Ram is less liked than Krishna? Krishna ji is celebrated more for his leelas. But every girl wants husband like Ram, every parent wants a son like Ram and every man wants a brother like Ram.

And I don't like that comparison with devdas n paro. Even though it was made to drive the point that they can never come together. Saras n kumud are much more evolved. Kumud was 14 in the novel? I have to check.

Devdas n paro didn't have a Sundar Giri. But saras n kumud did. They came so close to each other n were goaded by everyone to unite. They went on a journey of re-discovery under the spiritual atmosphere of Sundar Giri ashram. And kumud had the last say.

Actually I give more credit to SO for bringing this phase without the actual Sundar Giri. After kumud is rescued, saras n kumud re-discover their feelings all over again. They did will till the diwali episodes. There were beautiful scenes n dialogues.

I wish someone forwards this to him. I'll try myself.

Saras couldn't marry kumud due to society of that time. And there were great reformers like kandukuri veereshalingam in Andhra n Raja ram Mohan Roy who championed widow marriages even in 19th century. How regressive it would have been if they didn't get married in the show.

But at the same time they wouldnt have got married ...

While I do believe that the story lost its gravitas after UN and SLB left, I also dont think I could have borne the emotional abyss of seeing the story end in sadness...It is okay to see a sad ending in a movie (though some movies like Black made be depressed for almost a week), but in a daily soap, where you get soo intimate with the characters, seeing them 5-6 days a week, a sad ending is like a death in the family- unbearable...

IMHO, Saras and Kumud belonged together...

As said All's well that ends well.
If they havent shown SAMUD marrige then we all would have cursed them like hell.
I could very well remember a year ago when they were showing pramad track i was reading comments on tellychakkar and other sites fans were requesting SLB and SO to change the novel concept and get SAMUD married.
It was the demand of time to get SAMUD married.
Almost everyone wanted that. SAMUD were incomplete without each other.
A little more intimate and passionate moment was of no use if samud got separated.
Nobody wanted a sad end especially for SC. We all wanted a happy end and that we got.
As far as Saraswati maa track is concerned, it was definetly better than saras getting killed.
The cvs failed to bring out the best of Jenny and Gautam.
Both r superb actors and also very comfortable with each other.
It was the sheer fault of cvs to deny us beautiful SAMUD moments.
Just the presence of JENAM made it diff from other shows.
If well directed and with JENAM in the show SC would have touched glorious height in telly industry which no show had done before.
