by Vidhya Krishnan
Oct 30, 2008, Bangalore

Diwali means the festival of lights, but what else is it? We caught up with a few of our tele-stars to find out. Read on…

Alok Nath – Diwali means the festival of lights, happiness all around. It is a religious time when we pray for peace and love. A good chance to cheat on your diet!

Vibha Chibber – This is a big festival for us. Diwali means new clothes, pooja but nowadays there is no time for all this. However, the season gives me great pleasure.

Diwali attire for our stars?
by Vidhya Krishnan
Oct 28, 2008, Bangalore

What would our famous TV stars be wearing for Diwali? Let?s ask a few of them?

Preeti Puri ? I would wear a pink-ghagra, full of embroidery work. I designed it myself. I also like too go for saris but thought of trying something else this time. But on Diwali, I would like to look completely ethnic.

Angad Hasija ? I would like to look completely ethnic for the festival. So this time it is a silk dhoti and maroon kurta that I would be wearing on Diwali. I always prefer dressing traditionally on the festival but I make sure the look is different is some way. This time the kurta has high collars which looks different and at the same time has the Indian touch.

Star-gifts for Diwali
by Vidhya Krishnan
Oct 24, 2008, Bangalore

We caught up with some of our stars to know what they would be giving away as gifts to their loved ones this Diwali for our Diwali-special. Read on…

Ashita Dhawan – I was just thinking about it this morning. I want to buy some cosmetics for my mum because she likes them. But she does not accept gifts, so I would give her some money. And I am not sure as to what I have to buy for the others. I generally buy lots of gifts which are suitable for everybody. I am planning to buy some funky stuff for my friends because they love it. For every Diwali, I make sure to gift something to all my loved ones. I love giving and receiving gifts, but I take pleasure in giving than receiving.

Kinshuk Mahajan – I buy a lot of chocolates for everybody every Diwali. This time I will have my family spend time with me for Diwali. I am planning to take them out, probably for dinner. I am also thinking to buy a car for my dad and some jewellery for my mum.

Bidaai: Ragini to get engaged, but..

Heartbroken Ragini will finally be getting engaged in Bidaai - but probably not married, yet.

The dusky beauty will be hitched to Shishir, played by Mahesh Naggdev. Parul, who plays Ragini, told us what would come to be.

"I have just shot for my 'roka' on the show, and I am getting engaged to Shishir because my family wants me to get married," said Parul, "my engagement will soon be seen."

So will she just be engaged and not married?

Parul was cryptic in her reply. "I am not in a favour of this marriage, as I still love Ranvir and cannot forget him," she said, "though he has seen my face and then rejected me.'

'Shishir's family is been very nice to me," she admitted, "and my family has pointed that out. That is why my family now wants me to get married to him."

She said she saw the virtue of Shishir. "He is a nice boy and cares for me and I am ready for this marriage," she said, "but only because of my family. I do not want them to suffer for my sake."

But hope rests eternal in the lover's heart.

"I also hope that Ranvir should come back to me and take me with him," she said, "there will surely be a twist before my marriage with Shishir, which we have not shot for, I'm pretty sure it will come.'

So there is going to be some sort of a love triangle in the show later between Ragini, Ranvir and Shishir.

Bidaai is now on for a full hour on Star Plus and that must mean longer hours of shooting. Asked about working regularly on night shifts, Parul said: "We have started enjoying it now, initially it used to be very hectic. But now we do lots of masti on the sets and our director pampers us a lot. He has instructed that whatever we ask for should be provided to us immediately, and that makes it much better. So it is fun."

Men, beware of Sara Khan!!
by Vidhya Krishnan
Nov 04, 2008, Bangalore

Sara Khan aka Sadhana, the protagonist on 'Bidaai…' speaks about the causes she would fight for in 'If I could, I would...' Read on…

Firstly, I would do something for the development of India; I would try and change the mind-set of those people who are not broad-minded. For that, I would go as far as possible and try my best; I would smartly deal with it and make sure all people stop cheating and lying.

Secondly, I would talk to all the guys to stop flirting with girls and be a one-woman man.
I would kill all men those who have extra marital affairs.

Hope all you guys are listening to Sara…

Bubble Bath

DIPTI NAGPAUL-D'SOUZA

Posted: Nov 08, 2008 at 0417 hrs IST
With every new soap, half-a-dozen new faces are launched. If we go by the average - five new soaps a month, 2008 alone has seen over 250 new actors on television. The astounding statistics compel one to ask how does the industry absorb so many actors?

Rajan Shahi of Director's Kut feels that time commitments also contribute to the strain. To play the lead is as much a drawback as an advantage. If an actor is shooting for me 10 hours a day, they don't have time to do much else, he remarks. Besides, soaps are driven by scripts, new faces bring freshness to new characters. Citing an example, he points out that there are hardly any faces in the industry that could have done justice to the four young characters in the new show Miley Jab Hum Tum.

Coolest Dudes of the television industry

Coolest Dudes
of the television industry
Aditya Narayan symbolises Gen-Next of the small screen. A diamond stud in the ear and a small ponytail at the back of his head, Adi doesn't shy away from trying a bold style. Not surprisingly, he carries off the look with a cool confidence, making him a hot favourite among teeny boopers.

You'll hardly ever find Rohit Roy looking anything but immaculate and smart, then be it denims or formals that he's sporting. If lucky, you might even catch him in one of his superbly cut jackets.

Amidst other cool dudes like Nikhil Chinappa and Cyrus Sahukar, VJ Rannvijay has still managed to emerge as the coolest of them all. While his tattoo, piercing and half suits that he's been sporting of late in Splitsvilla anyway make the cut, his adventurous Roadie spirit takes him right to the top.

We've recently discovered that Angad Hasija aka Alekh of Bidaai is actually fond of dressing up. Maybe it has to do with the fact that he doesn't get to do much of it in the serial. Nevertheless, with stylish shoes, vests, different hairstyles and diamond studs, Angad makes it a point to look dapper in public.

If Karan Grover has one of the largest female fan following, his sharp dressing sense has a lot to do with it. Fashionable Karan never shies away from experimenting with men's clothing. And his well toned bod never lets him down!
