17 saal baad, the extremely popular TV show Sanjivani returned with a reboot version. Gurdip Kohli and Mohnish Bahl who began their television careers with the show returned for this one. And then, we saw some interesting additions to the star-cast in the form of Surbhi Chandna, Namit Khanna, Sayantani Ghosh, Rohit Roy and Jason Tham.
The makers and the cast members created immense buzz before the show could hit the TV screens. We even recall the #SanjivaniWhistle Challenge that became a rage. While one would have expected the second innings to be as good as the first one, it seems destiny has other plans.
The show which kickstarted in the month of August this year will probably go off air very soon. With low TRP’s haunting the makers every week, it is no less than a struggle for them to try to bring about interesting concepts to catch the viewers’ attention. But, it seems like nothing is really helping. We have heard that even the cast and crew has become apprehensive and has started hoping that the show doesn’t go off air.
There has been talk amidst the team that it could happen, though none of them would want something of that sort to happen so soon. We mean the show began in August and it’s just October now. Barely 2 months and whispers are agog that the makers could pull the plugs on the medical drama.
While, there has been no official announcement or confirmation from the channel Star Plus, there have been speculations. Sanjivani 2 is directed by Abhijit Das and Jackson Sethi, produced by Siddharth Malhotra and Sapna Malhotra. The first part Sanjivani enjoyed a good run-time of 3 years from 2002 to 2005. It starred Mohnish Bahl, Gurdip Kohli, Gaurav Chanana, Sanjeet Bedi and Shilpa Kadam. This was followed by a sequel in 2007 called Dill Mill Gayye which also turned out to be extremely popular. The show starred Karan Singh Grover and Shilpa Anand in main roles.
So, with the earlier parts being so popular, it comes as a huge shock that Sanjivani 2 couldn’t sustain in the TRP race. Let’s see if the makers manage to revive the losing sheen of the show and bring it back on track.
