Okay so Dr Shashank is Neuro Surgeon like Dr. Juhi. Anjali is ObGyn. What about Sid Ishani and Rest. Are they MD or MS? What kind of Residents are they? Sid being a Surgical resident performing surgeries makes sense but is he Truama Specialist or even a General Surgeon? Ishani is scrubbing in on Surgery on her first day of residency?Like if they are just MBBS it seems unlikely 🤔

Doctors with only MBBS degree are also allowed to do surgeries. And i guess Sid maybe is a general surgeon.. or maybe is a resident too.

Theyr e not allowed independent surgeries. It's only simple surgery and that too under a seniors supervision. Acute subdural hematoma requires a neurosurgeon which obviously they both aren't

Yeah independent surgeries require MD doctors. I was talking about in general that MBBS doctors are allowed to perform surgeries. Well after some time even MBBS doctors perform independent surgeries especially in rural areas but this kind of stuffs happening in such a big hospital is very unlikely. That too by first year resident.

In such big institutions even in anesthesia and surgery the MD and DNB residents don't have independence.

Resident doctor are those doctor who has completed basic graduation degree and working for pg like ms and Md before they achieve specialization . I think resident doctor are to work with senior doctor to gain experience and to assist them

Not every resident doctor work to complete pg. Some doctor do it to just only gain more experience

And resident doctor is always for patients for 24 hrs in emergency case

Resident can't do surgery. (To do surgery u have to be specialized in certain department ) a doctor is permit to do that surgery in which he or she is specialized. Like if doctor is eye specialist that he can do surgery of eye only .he can't do bypass surgery but yes resident can give basic treatment like some one having viral fever or any other fever

I think Ishani, Sid, Asha and all the other residents focused in the show are doing general surgery residency since Shashank is the HOD/Chief of Surgery. And that’s pretty much all we need to focus on as far as the show is concerned. Agreed, 1st year residents don’t really get to do more than holding clamps and retractors or suturing for the first few months in the OR but I guess they are not really getting into the hardcore medical protocol because these shows have always been more about the doctor’s lives aside from their work and how their interpersonal relationships get affected in the hospital atmosphere. So, I guess we need to let go of a little bit of logic and just enjoy the ride. 😆😆 I’m all for accuracy but not all non-medicos might appreciate the medical jargon, I guess and so the makers don’t want to stretch it too far.
