Part 3: Manya stepped out of her room the next day, holding her notebook in her hands. She walked out of the dorm room building and into the college building.
From behind her, Manya heard a few giggles. She stopped and turned. Nobody was behind her. She began to walk again when she heard a bit more giggles. Spinning abruptly, she caught Akash and Rehan laughing.
M: Idiots!
Akash held his heart.
A: Don't break my heart, partner!
He walked past her, pushing her again. She stumbled again, but this time, didn't reach out to grab him. She fell on the bench, groaning furiously. Akash stopped and looked at her. He reached out his hand, raising his eyebrows. He sang the words,
A: Do you want a partner, oh partner?
The music of "Tum Kya Jano" played as Manya stared at his hand. She quickly slapped it away and stood up on her own, fixing her dupatta.
M: Tum kya khud ko Salman Khan samajte ho?
A: Nain. Akash Rathod samajta hoon.
He walked away, whistling the song, as Manya gave him a dirty look but followed him into the classroom.
Ms. Jyostna began to speak the moment everyone was seated.
J: This is law school. You will learn all the basics you need to become a successful lawyer. You will learn basic debating skills through the projects presented. Aapko jo maine kal partners assign kiya thay, today, you both will recieve your assignments. Okay?
Everyone stood up and walked to sit with their partners. Manya and Akash stayed seated. Akash looked up at the ceiling, expecting Manya to walk to him. Manya stayed where she was, refusing to walk to him.
A boy came and stood in front of Manya.
B: Can you please go sit with your partner? Mujhe yeh seat chahiye..
Akash smirked as Manya angrily stood up. Reluctantly, she walked to Akash and sat down. Akash grinned a victorious smile.
J: Akash, Manya, you both will be handling the case of divorce. Aapke scenario mein ek ladki aapke paas aati hai, expressing her case. Then a boy will. You choose who you want to fight for. Any problems?
Manya smiled and shook her head.
M: No, ma'am.
J: Good. Akash, I hope you take this seriously.
Akash grinned and leaned over to her.
A: Jiski teacher itni haseen ho, ussai aur kisi cheez ki fiker nahin hai!
Manya smirked. He looked over at her and rolled his eyes.
M: Akash, can we start the project now?
A: Jinka case hai, unhe tho aane dho. And plus, they're just acting. Abhi koi real case nahin aya.
M: So? It's still our job to pretend like this is a real case and--
Akash stood up, pushing her face away.
A: Hata sawan ki gata, yaar!
Manya gave him an irritated look. He stood up and walked to Roopa, who was talking to Goppu, her partner.
A: Hi, Roopa.
Manya grimaced angrily. She stood up and walked to him.
M: Akash. Tumhari partner tumhara intezar ker rahi hai!
A: Tho ussai bolo muth kare!
Manya waited, tapping her heel.
M: Akash!
Akash turned around.
A: Whatever, man! CHALO!
He made a face behind her back as she walked. She stopped but didn't turn.
M: Stop making faces behind my back!
As she walked away, Akash stared, puzzled.
A: Vakay mein hi churail hai!
Manya and Akash stepped out, sighing.
A: Kahan hain woh dhono?
M: Patha nain. I just asked Jyostna ma'am and she said to wait in he garden, woh aate hi hon ge.
They walked to the garden, sitting on a bench. Akash looked up, and suddenly stared.
The wind was pushing Manya's hair in her face. She was moving them from her eyes. Tum Kya Jano music played as he watched her.
She looked at him, and he quickly looked away. Manya stood up, sighing. She flung her dupatta over her shoulder, hitting his face.
He flinched at the touch but didn't say anything.
M: I knew it. You're just bad luck.
A: Excuse me! I could say the same for you, okay!
M: Tho kaho na. Kis ne rauka hai!
A: Main tumhari tarha BAKVAS nain kerta, actually!
M: Main bakvas nahin kerti!
A: Kerti ho na! Lakein tumne profession bil kul teek chunna hai! Judge sahaab tumhari bakvas se thung aker kahein ge, Manya Sharma, you win!
Manya raised her finger at him.
M: Watch it!
A: I'm watching it!
Manya groaned and turned around, shaking her head. Her foot suddenly tripped over a rock, and she went tumbling down.
Akash stared at first, but then burst out laughing. He laughed as he looked at Manya.
A: Nice job, Klutzilla!
He was laughing when he noticed a tear in Manya's eye. She held her foot, aching in pain.
A: Kya hua?
M: Shut up!
Akash looked at her as another tear slid down her cheek.
A: Ab--rau kyun rahi ho?
M: Kyunki mera dil ker raha hai!
Akash frowned. She stood up, trying to catch her balance, when her foot twisted in pain.
M: Ouch!
Akash frowned. He suddenly bent down, wrapping his arms around her legs. Akash picked up Manya in his arms, as Manya stared at him. The music of Tum Kya Jano played as he, looking straight ahead, walked with Manya back to the school building.
Akash walked to Manya's room. Manya almost smiled at him when he suddenly threw her on the bed.
M: Ouch!
A: Heavy churail. Bechara ek tumhara husband hoga. Oof, I feel bad for him already!
He rubbed his arms, shaking his head.
M: Excuse me! Mera husband iss dunya ka SABSE lucky hoga, you got that?!
A: Acha? Kyun? Tum khud ko Maduri Dixit samajti ho?
M: Nain. Manya Sharma samajti hoon.
She smiled, throwing his own comeback back at him. Akash rolled his eyes.
A: Manya Sharma. Yeah, tumhara husband sirf tab hi lucky hoga, agar woh Frankenstein hua!
M: AKAAASH!
A: What? Tumse aur koi shaadi karega bhi kaun, man! LOOK AT YOU!
Manya breathed in angrily.
M: How dare you!
A: I just dared, Manya Sharma, I just did!
Manya grabbed a pillow and whacked his head with it.
A: Hey, cheater!
He grabbed another and hit Manya with it. Manya and Akash began to hit each other back and forth. A laugh escaped Manya's throat. As Akash hit her, she suddenly flinched as her foot ached again.
Akash dropped the pillow, jumping to her. He suddenly leaned over to her leg, staring at it.
A: TUM TEEK HO NA, MANYA?
Manya looked up, surprised...
