He's not the strongest actor for sure. But he's improved so much from his initial days, its outstanding. He's able to do some emotions really really well. For example, like the above poster said, he can do anger really well, along with confusion, wistfulness, happiness, etc. Crying scenes are hit or miss for him. But yeah, he does have negatives too.
i think i'd be able to judge him better if i'd seen any of his other roles but i think he plays the hypocritical angry-sad dad pretty well. some of his best scenes are him brooding over the fact he has essentially zero control of his life lol
