Sharad Kelkar aka Nahar Singh of Zee's Saat Phere got his knee surgery done on April 1. The actor is currently resting, but will soon be back to work. He had earlier torn a ligament in his knee in January this year.
"I have gone through surgery for ACL and meniscus in the knees. ACL is like a muscle tear whereas Meniscus is like a cushion between the joints of the knee bones," says Sharad.
He had knee problems ever since he shot for an action sequence in the show. "I was badly hurt at that point of time, but then I thought by going for swimming and regular workouts, my knees will be fine. All of a sudden, the pain worsened and I had to go for surgery", he adds.
"After a week or two, I can resume work but doctors have told me not to dance or walk fast, or else the problem will get aggravated again. I'm also planning to go for physiotherapy after the recovery", explains Sharad.
Talking about the precautions to be taken, the actor says, "After the surgery, the muscles become weak. So I need to take more care. In the long run I have to keep my muscles strong and if I hurt myself in the same area again, I may have to get it operated once more".
"ACL can be replaced through thigh or calf bone, but Meniscus cannot. So I will be taking good care but at the same time have to follow the precautions given by my doctor", he concludes.
We wish Sharad a speedy recovery...

Tele-stars speak on Rakhi's Swayamvar
Friday, April 17, 2009, 11:10 [IST]
Rakhi Sawant surely knows how to be in news without any help of a PR. At present the controversial girl is featured all around media with her new reality show on NDTV Imagine, Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, which would make Rakhi meet her future husband. We spoke with some of the television celebs and tried to find out, what they think about this new show, whether they would ever have contested in such a show in which Rakhi is involved and also whether the show would earn TRP's for the channel.
Chetan Hansraj: I don't know much about the show but I think it's an over hyped show.
No, I would never have been a contestant on such a show. As far as channel's TRP is concerned, I don't want to comment on it.
Saurav Pandey: Rakhi is a Good friend of mine. I wouldn't like to say something negative but actually I was wondering that which guy would like to marry Rakhi Sawant. I am just waiting for the show very eagerly, just to see that what type of guys will come to marry Rakhi Sawant. Guys like Salman Khan or Shahrukh Khan.
No, I wouldn't like to marry her as she is a Good friend and I am happy to be her friend only. But I believe the channel will earn a lot of TRP from this show because everyone is looking forward to this fun and drama filled show.
Amit Verma: I am speechless, what do I say but yes, I feel it's a very unique concept; its weird as well as unique way of getting married. But I would definitely not like to try or experiment such ways of wedding. It is something that only Rakhi can do as she can only experiment on such issues. I respect her for that.
I wouldn't like to marry her as I think Rakhi is better as a sister and I would love to have a sister as mischievous as Rakhi. I think the show will give the channel a lot of publicity and TRP. Even I am looking forward to this show. I think this show will help the channel to gain back its position.
Ravi Kishen: It's a fantastic concept. I am happy about the show and may god bless Rakhi to get the best possible soul mate this time. She is a lonely soul and she deserves someone who can understand her well. People always tell her dramebaaz and all but I think she is a nice girl.
I know many guys will turn up and would die to marry her but I can't because I am already married. If I would have been a bachelor then too I don't think so I would have been a perfect match for her.
Sharad Kelkar: I don't know much about the show, but yes I have heard about this show and its inspired by the show called bachelors. But Good this concept is being used in the Indian television.
Very honestly I wouldn't like to marry Rakhi Sawant at all but yes, she has always helped the various channels when it comes to TRP's.
The saas bahu dramas may be dwindling on the small screen but surprisingly, that hasn't stopped actresses from shedding their tears on television. They're armed with glycerine and are not afraid to use it; here are onscreen mothers and daughters-in-law who just can't fight back the tears, regardless of how crucial or trivial the reason. | |

Education Minister: Saloni of Saat Phere Saloni, portrayed by Rajshri Thakur in Saat Phere (Zee TV), is forever giving unnecessary 'gyaan' to everyone around her. Regardless of age, she keeps lecturing the entire family and now that she is the mother of two sweet daughters, her responsibilities have increased to an even greater extent. |
Our source said, "Rajshree has been demanding a vacation for a long time. Months of pleading didn't yield anything, so she threatened to leave the show. The producers couldn't let her quit as the lead actor Shard Kelkar is on the verge of bidding farewell. So they allowed Rajshree to take an entire month off in May. This situation put the producers in a spot. They had to consider Rajshree's demand and still continue the show." As a compromise, the frazzled production house twisted the script, "In order to justify her absence, her character Saloni, will be sent to jail and the soap will also take a twenty year leap. Her two daughters will grow up and take centre stage. The director has already started searching for new faces to fit the bill of the two actors who will play the pivotal roles after the leap." Explaining her stand Rajshree said, "I have been waiting for a break desperately. I have been working continuously since Saat Phere's first episode. That is almost four years, except ten days I took for my wedding two years ago. Now, the length of my holiday will depend on the altered storyline." |
