Isn't it a crime!!??

Forget about the emotional aspect now I am thinking about legal issues involved in the current "Toasty faking her own death for family's happiness."

I don't have knowledge of law but my commonsense tells me that actually it may be considered a criminal act to fake one's death while still being alive. It may seem plausible in a TV show but in reality no Toasty can dare pull this trick on her family. And if one of the family members find her alive, God knows they will not be able to forgive her for playing such dirty trick on them (no matter what her excuse is). She is bound to lose all credibility in future.

Also, it is against the law to get remarried while you are still legally married to a living person so I don't really understand how can Toasty expect to get Tej-Smiley married.

I have always liked and supported Toasty in all her actions and have found her a source of inspiration for women in many aspects. Even though deeply hurt on knowing that she really has final stage brain tumor and has no chance of surviving, this together with Aishwarya's health problems in real life made me accept the fact that Toasty is going to die and not continue to be in the show till the very end. But this fake death scenario, Toasty's mom (of all the people) mediating the whole act (so coolly!) and C-parivar acting the way they are has kind of detached me from this show. I still continue to watch it but as I said before I can't relate to it in any way, can't empathize with any character anymore. May be I needed to mourn Toasty's death more than her husband and family did which is kind of ironical.

now that i think of... this is what they could have done...

I don;t know about the first case(faking death), but if she is alive and Tej marries that would be illegal.

I think it's only illegal if fraud is committed, i.e. insurance/death benefits were received by a beneficiary due to a death claim.

then have toasty come back for some time, for their engagement (i believe they are too young to get married) and then have malti's baby track and end the show.. even if it had to be a month earlier..

i would have loved to see them fix shobha too...

even though i understand the CVs are just trying to keep it going but i dont think its working. even i am not watching it and just skim through the written updates.

Here's one alternate track I can think of considering Aishwarya's inability to stay in Mumbai and shoot for the show.

Toasty's mom or dad (say mom) gets diagnosed with rare disease which can only be cured in the US by one particular physician who has successfully handled similar cases earlier (kind of how Yuvraj went to US for his cancer treatment).

Since, it is crucial year at studies for Dimple so she can't go along and entire C-parivar comes together to convince Toasty to go with her parents to the US. Now from US, Toasty keeps calling home, giving updates on progress of her mom's health, talks to everyone and participate from distance (via phone) in day to day activities of C-house.

Meanwhile Dimple stays with C-family in C-house. Best opportunity for Prachin-Dimple love story to develop as Dimple misses her family and is worried about her mom while living in the same house as Prachin. They both go to college together...etc etc.

An extra focus on Nitika-Ved love story and also a chance to show Nitika-parents' bonding again.

Some Malti-Pashu scenes and also Malti-Dadaji scenes.

Dadaji getting his legs fixed. Tej and Malti helps with that.

Gyan graduating from high school with great results and his dilemma of choosing a Major for higher studies.

Prachin and Dimple graduating too. Prachin getting a scholarship to a well-renowned college for plant research (horticulture).

Pitaji enjoying life and being happy seeing growth of business and both shops doing well.

Finally, Malti in labor pain, no one in the house (just like today) and Toasty enters the house just in time, calls in the doctor, doctor comes to home and together with Toasty and Tej, helps in home delivery of a beautiful child. A scene where Tej and Toasty are holding the new born and talking about having their own very soon.

Last scene of SBS, new baby in palna (bassinet), house decorated with flowers, everyone in beautiful clothes (including Toasty's healthy parents), sharing sweets and singing songs...The Happy End :)

I guess on SBS forum you are the only person who hates Prachin so this comment from you doesn't come as a surprise to me...in fact it was very well expected.

Just want to add that when passion is involved, one can do wonders in their chosen field.
