Mahabharata goes new age

The epic story of Mahabharata transcends time and gets a new age look in Saarrthi, a daily soap (largely influenced by Mahabharat) on Star Plus.

Of course the stories aren't exactly the same, "but one cannot ignore the strong underlying similarities in the characters and basic story line," says Asit Modi, producer of Saarrthi, who has previously made serials like Hum Sab Ek Hain and Meri Bibi Wonderfool.

Saarthi is said to be a story about the conflict between two brothers and their families; one is on the path of dharma (good), the other on the path of adharma (evil).
