Aditya Narayan Rocks New Jersey
April 22, 2008
Govil Entertainment Brings Udit & Aditya Narayan's World Tour to the East Coast!
It was a glamorous evening with a sold-out show and high energy crowd at The Ritz Theater in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Udit Narayan swayed the audience with his evergreen voice, but it was Aditya Narayan who all the young fans were cheering for.
Govil Entertainment has been in the business of hosting glitzy events such as this one since the early '80s, proving to be one of the longest-running pioneers of the industry. When asked what their secret to success was, Amit Govil disclosed, "We always try to make sure that whatever we do has some meaning and substance to it. Whether it's a Bollywood event or a musical concert, it should be something that actually makes sense. We've had some good success on musical concerts in the past with Alka Yagnik and Kumar Sanu. We saw that people appreciate musical events, so the idea of putting together a father and son in a family type of show really appealed."
On stage, while Udit Narayan dazzled the crowds with his ever-popular melodious numbers, Aditya Narayan turned up the energy level a few notches by singing and performing to the latest and hottest tracks, such as "Mauja Hi Mauja" and "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom." Backstage, this father and son duo was as warm and personable as ever. Mr. Udit Narayan proudly declared, "My son is great. All the girls love him!"
Along with being a talented singer and performer, Aditya Narayan has been the television host for Zee TV's popular show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. He has also been a child star in movies such as Pardes and Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai. When MOVIE Magazine asked Aditya was his next course of action was going to be, he declared,
"Music is my first love. When I was a child, I was classically trained in music. I began singing for movies and then was offered roles in movies. People appreciated me at quite a young age. As I got older, I realized that it's not just music, it's not just acting, it's not just television; it's the whole entertainment industry that I'm in love with. So, I'd love to do the most of it. It's all about doing good work, and I'm not running away from hard work or criticism. People criticized me as a TV host at first, but I went beyond their expectations. That is basically what I like doing; I like surpassing people's expectations."
Aditya claims he has no desire to be a professional playback singer like his father, but he would like to contribute to the industry by singing his own solo albums. As for his musical inspirations, his father tops the list:
"There are a lot of great singers, but as a human being, I think my father has inspired me the most. It's not a joke being in the limelight for so many years and being in competition with the people who grew up listening to you. In spite of having so much success for such a long time, he's still as simple, still very grounded, and he's happy with whatever he has. He doesn't want a fancy car or a fancy house. He just wants people to listen to his music, and I think that's fantastic."
It is evident that both father and son are not ones to be knocked off course by their immense stardom. Watch out for this rising star in the future, and also keep an eye out for Govil Entertainment's next star-studded event!
