GUWAHATI, April 18 – The condition of Dr Bhupen Hazarika, who was admitted to the Guwahati Neurological Research Centre (GNRC) on Sunday night following a cerebral stroke, has improved. "The condition of Dr Hazarika has improved and he is stable," Dr NC Borah, chairman-cum-managing director of the GNRC said in a statement this evening. Dr Hazarika was in a 'jolly' mood and could talk, it added.
Dr Hazarika today underwent a number of tests like MRI, Doppler test, eco-cardiography, etc.
It may be mentioned that the legendary singer took to ill while performing at a Bihu function in the city late in the night, requiring his immediate hospitalization.
