GUWAHATI, April 18 – The condition of Dr Bhupen Hazarika, who was admitted to the Guwahati Neurological Research Centre (GNRC) on Sunday night following a cerebral stroke, has improved. "The condition of Dr Hazarika has improved and he is stable," Dr NC Borah, chairman-cum-managing director of the GNRC said in a statement this evening. Dr Hazarika was in a 'jolly' mood and could talk, it added.

Dr Hazarika today underwent a number of tests like MRI, Doppler test, eco-cardiography, etc.

It may be mentioned that the legendary singer took to ill while performing at a Bihu function in the city late in the night, requiring his immediate hospitalization.

according to the news papers today, Dr. hazarika's health has improved a lot, but he requires a long rest before he is fit to sing before the audience again. When he suffered from Stroke, he forgot all the lyrics of his songs, now he has been able to remember everything. There were hundreds of people waiting to know the condition of the ligend. He was asking the doctors several times, whether he will be all right again, whether he will be able to sing again. Even when he was taken for MRI scanning, everybody was relieved when heard him singing "Buku ham ham kare mor aai", the assamese version of Dil noon hoon kare, as he has been suffering from heart attack.
