Dear Mr. Gajendra Singh,
I am very happy to address this to letter you. I always had a great regard for a talented and simple person like you for conceiving and presenting to us great shows like 'Antakshari' and 'SaReGaMaPa'(SRGMP).
Though surprised at the sudden demise of popular 'Antakshari' programme, of late I have the feeling that your SRGMP is becoming more and more a commercial and a farcical show.
I have listed out few points below for you think over.
Commercialisation: Today, your SRGMP show is commercialised to the core. It is very clear, no not just from the fact that you now drive a BMW, but from the way you are prolonging the show to get those extra SMSs and sponsorships, that you are now only focusing on making more money for your show and for your company, at the cost of talent. This is indeed sad.
Introduction of Mentors based system: Agree with you, that it was a good idea that you introduced this concept. It worked fine in the initial stages. But with the introduction of public voting, believe me Mr. Gajendra Singh, mentors are making a mockery of the system with their childishness, antics and buffoonery. If you are really serious about the SRGMP sequel to be popular and unbiased, you perhaps already know now, who you need to cull (word borrowed from the Avian Flu stories) out of the existing mentors.
Elimination of good singers: How we wish you had continued the earlier selection procedure of sticking to the revered and honourable judges to do the talent spotting? Because of unfair eliminations, today your SRGMP show is missing budding talents like β Nihira Joshi, Hema Chandra, Swananda, Sharib, Vishwanath, Himani, Raktima, etc.
Regionalisation: Intentionally or unintentionally, you have incited the issue of regionalization in the recent episodes. For heaven's sake you could have played it safer by not divulging the voting pattern by the region and stunts like including Madhya Pradesh in Western Zone (!?!). Do you think such tactics get you more votes? May be yes, but, unfortunately, you are doing an irreparable damage to your own country, my friend.
Programme format: Perhaps you already know yourself, deep down, that all is not well with the judgment being meted out to the budding singers through the public voting system. It is nothing new, Mr. Gajendra Singh, even Miss World competition also had the same issue, when best candidates were shown the door. We need to learn from such experiences and make necessary changes in the programme format to maintain fairness quotient of your show.
People's feedback: I am sure you are aware that popular programmes like yours do have people's feedback. Are you aware where to get them? No, not, definitely, from your cronies, yes you need to go to the intelligentsia. You need to employ agencies to do feedback polls for you. Or simply employ couple of guys to go through the India Forums, to notice the muck being dug out, in the recent days, on the show.
I don't know whether you will receive the same amount of patronage for your next show or not, but you, definitely, have lost one die-hard fan of SRGMP, i.e. me.
Good luck to you and your teamβ¦.
