Folk queen Ila Arun, herself, a 'Head Mistress' in a popular talent hunt show feels that audience participation may help get higher TRP ratings, but real talent may become a casualty in the process.
"Talent does suffer because you never know what people will like and they SMS and vote according to their likes and dislikes. But then that is the format, and we cannot blame anybody," says, the 'Head Mistress' of the 'Fame Gurukul' show.
Arun, however, adds that she tried her best to save talent that she thought deserved to stay irrespective of what the television audience or the judges on the show thought. "My vote was always with the underdog and more often than not I succeeded," she says.
Fame Gurukul's format was adopted from a Spanish reality show, and since the license demanded that the audience participation be a part of it, that's the way it went.
Ila Arun is candid in saying that if she had her way she wouldn't have the audience participation as it leads to elimination of talented singers.
Arun is readying herself for the 'Fame Gurukul 2' which will hit the television screens in a few months' time. She is also looking forward to her movie Kalpana Lajmi's "Chingari" where she plays an important role.
