May be, but I found Maduri Day very good, her song "kaha aa gaye" was outstanding..she was demoralized by being voted in bottom three many times..almost in each and very episode, I think the judges were overly critical of her singing. I didn't think the judges were fair in this instance.
I find it strange that out of thousands of girls who auditioned for the show, they couldn'f find many outstanding singers. Bollywood has outstanding female singers..no male can sing better than Lataji and now Sherya is very very good..the song ,teri meri' is good due to her, Rehat Ali with is rough voice killed the song.
For future they have to design the shows in such a way that half and half female ratio is maintained..both the genders bring different skills on the table and one cannot replace other. If the format is not changed to ensure gender equality many viewwers like me wouldn't watch the show..
I don't enjoy or even will watch the show that doesn't have gender balance. ..male judges and male singer can enjoy each other and jump up and down to support each other..there is nothing for females to see as role model, or aspire up to..

Girls were very weak, Madhuri was good among girls but comparing with male counterparts she did not have any identity in respect of singing. Jasraj has his identity, MA is mahaan, Shehnaaz, Jazim all are great in their genre. In which genre Madhuri was great? None... I know naari jaati agar sankat mein ayee to purush zimmedaar... I accept still women all over world are treated badly... but we cannot say that happend in this show... It is voting based show.. ab naari naari ko vote na kare to kaya kahna... I think Naari hi Naari ki bari dushman hai...

I agree with you April2007. There should be at least one female singer in grand finale. I can't believe it for a second that they could not find even one talented girl from all over India? Madhuri Day was good and so does Arshpreet. There is no fun in waching this all male sa re ga ma pa. I think that it has happened in the history of this show for the first time that all the girls have been eliminated one by one before the grand finale.
Who is responsible for it? Voters - I don't think so because Z-tv has got all the cards in their hand as they have the right to ignore public votes any given day. Does India has shotage of new fenale talent - again I disagree with it.
I strongly believe that Judges or mentors have failed big time in selecting good voices in the auditions. Some names and faces come in my mind - one was Paani paani re girl from Lucknow, I mean she was a trained singer but unfortunately in round 2 she had bad throat and was let go. Juhi was another good singer but was eliminated in round 2 of auditions. Even if Madhuri, Renu or Arshpreet was not up to the mark, they should have been given more training or simply been advanced to finale just for the sake of female representation. Do judges think that all these boys will become play back singers one day? All crap, they are making their money and are least interested in finding a new talent. When show is over, kaun mahadevan, sala kaun sajid, kaun Wajid and kaun Ram - everybody will be rich and poor singers will be on streets. Judges/mentors once again will foget their promises just like saali Raat Gayee Baat Gayee. 😆
I'm not too sure if Sugandha Mishra or Sniti Mishra or Abhilasha should have given a chance in this competition because they have already got the required exposure. They are play back singing material anyway.
Shankar Mahadevan is a liar. In auditions he asked Jasraj if he is doing live shows or had a band? Shankar was pretending that he did not know Jasraj. As a matter of fact they have worked together and they are friends. Jasraj is already a professional singer and he does not belong here. Yes MA, Jazim, Shenaz and Vishvjeet are good singers.
Bottom line Flop show, Bias Judges total failure of sa re ga ma pa.

Thanks Jas ji for agreeing with me..

Thousands of girls came to audition. I find it very hard to believe that they couldn't find as many good girls as boys for the show. The show is completely male based. The judges are male and so are the majority of the contestants.

It appears that the show is conducted for the enjoyment of the judges. They like pure classical and that is what they keep praising. MS is good but how many Indians listen to pure classical.
I have stopped watching this show because I don't enjoy all males thumping each other at the back and trying to get cheap publicity.

Unless the format of the show is changed, girls should stop auditioning, no point in being insulted by bunch of males.

Why didn't they choose very strong girls, there were thousands of them auditioning for the show. Read Jaspal's note Shanker already knew Jasraj.

I personally find Jasraj very repetitive (every song he sings is same) and pretty boring.
Even MS is very same, the same kind of raga, I don't think he can sing folk songs or light music. He sings all the songs in very similar fashion. This is not about treatment of the women but about fairness, nobody can convince me that their are no good women singer, only male can sing. I have not seen a single male beat Lataji, even Sherya are way better than many male singers. In my opinion no male can beat Lata Mangeshkar.

Girls sing different songs than males, they have different genre and no show is complete with just one gender singing for one hour. I don't want to hear one male song after other and male judges going out of control praising them ...horrible flop show. Bunch of male judges just choose male contestants and having fun in their own little world. After Renu was pushed out, I have stopped watching the show.

Not choosing right girl singers is judges fault they cannot convince me that good female singers don't exist. Vashali is one of the best singers I have listened to on saregamapa..

Since females and males sing at a different scale, have a different pitch etc etc, best would be to have an all female or a all male music show with so called judges of the same gender, running simultaneously on the same channel, so that viewers have the the option of watching whatever suits them.😳

I think you are talking about MA.

How can you say the same kind of raga?

By the same coin, i assume you think all film songs sound the same, since 90 percent of them are all based on one raga or the other. Especially the songs sung by Lata di.

Any music classical, folk, light music, western , whatever are based on the basic 7 notes.

I am a feminist, not a militant one, believe that men and women deserve equal respect, MERIT counts, gender does not matter.

I think vaishali and Madhuri are good singers.

If i was in their place, i would not have allowed the channel to milk my husband or in laws supporting me, in public.

Why did you not mention that it is not right for both of them to take advantage because they are females?

I still feel Vaishali's win was unfair, though she is one of my favourite singers because of the reason quoted above.

How many married males have had their wife or in laws coming in their support and the channel milking it for what it is worth?

Even if the wife comes in support, it is a GIVEN, nobody dindora peetofies.

WHY????

Bottom line-- charity and equality begin at home !!

I dont understand one thing, should we talk about Lata, Shreya and established male singer or contestants from this year or contestants from previous year... Vaishali was talented so she won. And about Lata, Shreya etc, talking about them in these reality show is simply disrespectful to legendary singers and injustice to these kids who are trying to plant their feet in singing...
If I look at this year crop, there was not a single female singer who should be in top 3-4 finalists, not a single female voice... If Zee goes with at least, we have been first person to rile Zee, now they are not applied quota system, then we should appreciate their effort. I understand your point show can not be complete without female and male both voices... but this is singing competion not the show.

Lataji and Sherya were mentioned to establish that women are very good singers. as good as male singer and even better. since 50 percent of population is male and other 50 percent male. I find it very hard to believe that all top six are male, rest of the 50 percent will need quota system to have fair representation.

I personally think the show is slated in favor of male singers. Unknowingly or knowingly all the 5 judges are male, and the judges love to show off their own talent and sing at the drop of hat. It seems that judges are promoting themselves. Somehow the judges seem to like male singers more than female, even during auditioning more male were chosen than female.

The viewers can clearly see that the judges start acting differently when camera falls on them.
