Mamta sang "Aga Bai" from Aiyya. I had never heard the song before and I did not enjoy it. And therefore did not enjoy Mamta's performance. But she seems to have sung it well. It's just that I didn't like the song, and sometimes if the song they choose is a bad one, my perception of the contestant's performance suffers since it's hard for me to separate the song from the performance when I don't like the song. When I do like the song, it's easier for me to tell if I liked the performance or not. But if I'm hearing the song for the first time in a bad performance (like it happened with Shashank) I'm not sure if the song itself is not that good or it's the contestant's performance that's ruining it for me.I hope I haven't made this more confusing! 😃
