He opened the door to Ananya's room and went in. He noticed that the window in her room was open, and the soft evening breeze brought life into an otherwise dull hospital room. Ananya was sitting on her bed, lost in her thoughts, but looking content. Kabir sat down on the couch and threw his head back and sighed after a long and tiring day. Starting from last night, Ananya's breakdown, their cuddling up and sleeping together (well Kabir couldn't sleep at all!!), a surgery in the morning, a special workshop at Anahita and a long talk with Ananya's friends had drained his energy out. He rolled up his sleeves and enjoyed the silence.
Hearing him sigh, Ananya asked, "Tired, are you?" "Nah, not really, just a hectic day..." he replied. Ananya gave him an I meant the same thing' look to which Kabir smirked.
"Kabir, when will I get out of this hospital?" she asked.
"Why?? Am I troubling you much?" he asked with a wink.
Ananya felt her cheeks heat up. She was definitely not the old Ananya anymore. The old one didn't blush, she didn't used to open up, she was a crazy workaholic... but the new one liked to talk, liked to talk on and on, not caring about anything, she liked to smile, she felt free and she was loving her new self.
"Is there something I can do which cuts down on the boredom? I know it's really hard for a reporter... No, a field reporter-cum-Editor-in-Chief to stay confined in a room for so many days without her work. But then, you have no choice." Kabir said. "I love books, but I never get to read them. All thanks to my job, I can't spare myself a night with books... I have a library at home... and all the books are collecting dust. My favourite are all Sherlock Holmes. Gosh! How much I love him! You know, I have always loved books for children, they have a different feeling to it altogether... I was a fan of Kipling since I was a child. And then you have classics..." and she babbled on. An idea clicked in Kabir's mind and he smiled to himself, chuckling a little.
When she finished, Kabir said, "Hey, I told your friends to go because you were tired, but here, it is as if the day just started for you!" "I had saved some energy so that I could talk with you. You know what Kabir, this last month that I have been in here, the only reason why I can still smile is you. Believe me, whenever I used to report stories where people cheated their loved ones, the epilogue was always the same; that the person being cheated has forgotten to smile, has gone into depression and sometimes, has even committed suicide! That was the same case with me, until I came here. I never knew I would be lucky enough to find a friend as good as you. Otherwise, I would have become a lifeless zombie. Oh Gosh! Here I go again with my emotions! I seriously need to control them... they almost took away my life!" She laughed at this.
These memories didn't haunt her anymore. With the aid of the "princess' saviour", she had moved on. A strong will, untainted care and a little love was all it took for her. What she wasn't aware of, was the fact that unknowingly, she had started to like Kabir. His presence, his smile and his care was all she needed to make her day. Why else would she be happy to know that she was Kabir's crush? But not the schoolboy crush, a serious one. But he had never tried to impress her, or flirt with her and behaved absolutely normal in front of her. Ananya loved this fact about Kabir.
So finally, as Khalid would've wanted, his two favourite people had started to fall for each other, though both were unaware of this new development!
Realization dawned upon Kabir that amidst all this, they hadn't had dinner. So he went outside and asked the ward boy to give Ananya her dinner and get something for Kabir from the canteen. When he returned to the room, with food for them, he found Ananya sleeping. He gently woke her up and asked her to have her dinner. "I don't want to have dinner Kabir, I am tired" she said and turned the other side and went back to sleeping.
Kabir put his hands on his waist and looked at this 30 year old baby. He asked the ward boy to keep the food on the table and leave. Once he had left he said, "Ananya, this is not the time to be fussy. Get up and have your food; then you have to take the medicines and after that, you can sleep for as long as you want! Now come on...!" On getting no reply, he just picked Ananya up in his arms and walked towards the couch. Ananya was shocked for a moment but then she screamed and giggled and tried throwing her legs but Kabir's strong hands just held her close to him.
"What are you doing?? I told you I didn't want to have dinner!" Ananya asked, feigning anger. "There is a certain princess I know who is tired of having to sit on the bed and have her food. So her knight in armour brought her to the couch. Now be a good girl and have your food so that I can also enjoy mine!" Kabir said, pointing to the food. Ananya chuckled and shook her head. Both them spent 20 more minutes to finish up their dinner before Kabir gave her the medicines and tucked her in for the night.

Kabir had one more task left for him before he could go home. He went down to the reception and asked for the records. He practically snatched the record book and looked for Ananya's name and found her address. He then went up to the room where the belongings of the patients are kept (I don't know if there is any such room or not!). He fished out a bag with Ananya's name on the tag and took out a bunch of keys, silently praying it was the thing he was looking for. Being the Head Doctor, no one questioned him for all this. He then sat in his Black Lamborghini and drove down to Ananya's flat. He couldn't believe that he was doing all this... all for the sake of friendship!
With trembling hands and his breath stuck in his throat, he opened up the door to her apartment. "She has a classy house, I must say!" he smirked. With two big bedrooms, a modular kitchen, a huge balcony which provided a beautiful view, light textured paint on the walls, and a comfortable living and dining area, Kabir was absolutely right. "Okay, so where is the library? Kabir, get to work man, you got one night." He said to himself as he headed towards a room.Originally posted by: Enchanted2408
