She was about to wake her up when Kabir came in her room. He wasn't one of the doctors who came with combed wet hair and big glasses on his nose, nor was he a person who was too bold with his style during duty hours. He wore a sky blue shirt with black jeans and a white coat above them. He sported rimless glasses which made him look sober, stylish and professional. He looked at Richa and smiled. He went up to her and said, "Richa... Richa, wake up! See? It's morning!!... Richa?" he shook her gently, not shocking her. She rubbed her eyes and looked up with half closed eyes around her. She saw Kabir and Ananya smiling at her. In a flash, she got up and was about to leave when, "Richa, go home and rest for some time. You have been here since last evening... I am sure Jessica can cover up for you till you come in the second half, okay?" Kabir said, putting a hand on her shoulder. She was reluctant to leave when Ananya slowly got out of her bed. Kabir quickly held her, because she was too weak to support herself. They walked up to Richa, and Ananya said, "Ri, I hope I can call you that; I just wanted to thank you for all that you have done for me..." "But I didn't do-" "No, by staying here for me the whole night, you have proved that nurses are not only the people who take care of you, but they are the family, when you need one. I don't have a family, and I would be more than glad if I can call you my sister from now on. I know we just met a night before, but in one night, you have done more than what my relatives have ever done for me. It's just that-" Richa didn't let her finish as she just hugged her gently, overwhelmed by Ananya's behaviour. Ananya was happy too, for she had found a sister in Richa, a person who she believed would never let her down.
Amidst all this, Kabir just stood there, looking serenely at the two women. He was happy for both of them. Ananya needed an emotional support and she found Richa. Something positive had happened in Ananya's life so suddenly, that Kabir secretly wished that nothing more should happen which would make Ananya suffer. He cleared his throat which interrupted their rejoicing. "Excuse me soul sisters, I hate being a party pooper, but Miss Kashyap has to take her meds and she needs rest... and so do you, Richa. So go home and enjoy a half day and Ma'am, please come with me to your bed." He smiled. Both the women blushed and bid each other goodbye before heading in opposite directions.
Ananya walked towards her bed when she tumbled on a chair and was about to fall when Kabir quickly caught hold of her. His arms wrapped protectively around her waist and one hand on the back of her neck, holding her as gently as he could. She was expecting a hideous fall and had therefore shut her eyes. That same pain in the chest that hit her the last evening was back. But it eased out as suddenly as it had appeared. After a few milliseconds, when she realized she hadn't hit the floor, she looked up. The first thing she saw was worried face of Kabir who was looking at her face intently. Shivers ran down her spine as she felt strong arms around her. She felt a strange comfort in the frame of his hands. Even when Rohan used to hold her by the waist, she would feel a little uneasy and the lust in his eyes would just add to it. But Kabir's eyes had nothing but plain worry in them.
"Are you okay, Miss Kashyap? Are you hurt somewhere? Wait, let me take you to your bed so that I can check on you for any minor injuries." He said, tension clearly written on his face. He didn't notice Ananya gaping at him. He was too preoccupied. He carried her to the bed and laid her down. Ananya was too shocked to react. She just kept quiet all the while Kabir checked on her. Once he was through, she said, "Umm... Doctor-" "Please call me Kabir. It sounds as if I am a 50 year old doctor... I am just 34!" "Okay," she said laughing, "Kabir... thank you. Thank you for saving my life. I know I was about to make one of the biggest mistakes in my life, but now I think it was just my emotions creating havoc in my mind." She said with a sad smile. "There is no need to thank me, Miss Kashyap. It is all because of your extreme will that you have survived this accident. Otherwise, the dosage of the pills would have knocked down a horse!" Both them laughed at his tiny joke. A comfortable silence followed which Kabir decided to break.
"Don't mind me saying all this," he began hesitatingly, "I know what your fianc did was wrong. He has scarred you. But I just want to tell you that the biggest thing in life is to forgive. It may sound absurd, coming from a complete outsider, but it is one thing I am telling you from experience. Trust me, the pain which you are holding is nothing but a big black cloak of regrets, betrayals, losses and the instances which have held you back from moving on. Let go of them. This will hurt, but you have to be strong. Because in the long run, it will benefit you and your loved ones. Live for yourself and you will see, that in no time, life will change. For good. You have to show the world that an immature man can't dominate a woman like you. I have followed your news since the beginning of your career, and I know the determination which you have, you can overcome anything."
Realizing that he has said a hell lot more than he should have, he quickly changed the topic. "I will come back in the afternoon. Please rest till then. And I will be round the corner if you need my help" Saying so, Kabir turned around and left the room hurriedly.
Ananya looked at the retreating figure. She had never in the wildest dreams that she would be pondering over what Kabir had said. But she was doing it. She wept silently, reliving all those haunting memories. It was hard. But as unbelievable as it may sound, she slowly got over those days. Realisation dawned upon her that Rohan would never return to her, neither would her parents, nor she could fix her past, and nor would she gain anything from her past apart from lessons. But since she was going to live, no matter for how long, she was going to live it her way. She silently thanked Kabir for whatever he had said. Sometimes in life, you just meet a person or hear something which just nudges you on the right path. It may be a simple thing about life, which you can personally connect to. And that becomes the best advice; be it from a loved one, or from an outsider. People take years to change, and there she was, already feeling light and happy that she had left her personal life behind, to start afresh with a new meaning to it.
P.S. I know thoda boring types ho gaya... lekin aage bahot kuchh aane wala hai!! Please trust me and stay tuned for more!
