Part 14
Razia and Iqtiaar stood under the beam of light in the dark room lost in each other's eyes with Razia smiling sweetly at him. Qutub who was standing next to Shazia and Nani noticed this. She was happy to see her daughter finally getting the happiness that she deserves. And also a satisfaction that everything was good between the husband and wife as she had been suspecting it to be not so for the last couple of days. Qutub turned to Shazia and asked her to ask Razia and Iqtiaar to come for Dinner.
Shazia walked up to both of them asked them to move to the grand table which was booked exclusively only for the Mallik and Khan family members. As the Reception Dinner had almost come to an end and the family finally got a chance to start having dinner at around twelve mid-night, Iqtiaar noticed that Rukn-ud-din was still missing. Seeing less number of guests around and only family members he decided to confront Altamush about this. Just when everyone was taking seats Iqtiaar interrupted.
Iqtiaar: Dad Isn't Rukn-ud-din going to have dinner with all of us? He asked all of a sudden.
Altamush stopped midway in his process to take the seat where as Qutub looked at him nervously. Razia on the other hand had suddenly gone back to her quiet and dull self; the smile nowhere near to her lips. Iqtiaar noticed this change in behavior of the Khan family immediately while it went unnoticed by the rest. He looked at Razia fidgeting with her saree's pallu again and looking away, biting her lower lip nervously.
Nani: Yes Altamush, now let it be, how much more work will you make Rukn-ud-din do? Ask him to come immediately and have dinner with all of us. She said warmly.
Altamush: Aunty, actually one of our very important clients from Japan had specially come to attend the wedding and he had to leave back tonight itself. So Rukn-ud-din has just gone to drop him to the airport. He lied feeling guilty and took his seat. Qutub sighed and smiled nervously at Nani.
But Iqtiaar was still not convinced. The inquisitive lawyer in him desperately demanded an answer for the sadness clearly visible on his wife's face.
Iqtiaar: But Dad, I am sorry if I am saying something wrong but even the driver could have gone to drop him, Rukn-ud-din should be with all of us right now isn't it?
Razia closed her eyes feeling scared, her hands shivering in fear now. Iqtiaar noticed this again as he sat right next to her. Iqtiaar noticed how Razia was so happy minutes ago in the dance hall and just in a second after taking Rukn-ud-din's name, she had gone back to her that part of self' which he hated to see. During the past one week when he had clicked Razia's pictures secretly he had noticed how she behaved like completely two different people during the course of the day. He could never understand what was it that was going in her mind which made her react to things like two completely different people. But I guess; now he was slowly getting answers to his questions.
Altamush: Beta, as I told you he's a very important client. So it was important for Rukn-ud-din to go.
JY: It's okay uncle. And Donny, I think you should concentrate more on Razia Bhabhi now and not on Rukn-ud-din. Everyone started laughing at JY's comment.
Qutub softly pressed Razia's hand under the table trying to ease her fear. Razia calmed down and smiled a nervous smile. Iqtiaar's sharp eyes noticed this too and he smiled at Qutub.
One thing he was sure about now, and that was that his best friend had a big role to play in wife's life until now. Something the family very conveniently was hiding from him.
***
As they all finished with the dinner, Qutub and Altamush asked for their leave. They blessed Iqtiaar and Razia both and had to bid Razia bidaai' from here only. Razia didn't know why but she didn't feel any pain or unhappiness doing so. Just a lone tear escaped her eye when she hugged her mother who cried as if her only reason to live was being taken away from her. Razia walked upto her father and smiled genuinely at him. Altamush remembered all those times when he had behaved like a step-father and not how he had thought of when he had got an eight year old Razia home after marrying Qutub. His eyes held guilt, shame and yet love for his daughter.
He kept his hand on Razia's head and whispered: I know I have never ever spent any time with you as a father. But today I want to teach MY daughter an important principle in life; only if she wants it from HER father?
Razia nodded slightly as Qutub looked surprised at Altamush.
Altamush: Beta, I have got an account opened for you in London. Every time that you experience any happy moments with your husband, in your life from now on, just deposit a minimum amount of money in it. And do it all your life. It will help you to understand your marriage and the relationship between a husband and wife better. Trust me! Will you do it for me?
Razia and Qutub looked at him confused but Razia nodded as she still held respect for her father no matter what he had done in the past.

After they bid a good bye to Razia's parents Shazia along with Chanda took Razia to the room. Shazia asked Razia if she was alright as she looked a bit sad. Razia answered that she was alright. Iqtiaar too was just going back when Laila stopped him.
Laila: what's the hurry Donny? Come with me first, we all need to speak to you about something really important.
Iqtiaar: What is it Laila? And where are you taking me?
Laila took Iqtiaar to the bar in the Taj hotel, where JY and Zaroon were busy having drinks waiting for both of them.
Zaroon: Miya, So finally you are here. Come sit. He said smiling at Iqtiaar. Iqtiaar annoyed sat down.
JY: So? He asked Iqtiaar with a cheeky smile on his face, raising his eyebrows as if he was asking something.
Iqtiaar: So? He asked confused to see JY like that.
Zaroon: Miya, you are not getting nervous are you? He asked concerned.
Iqtiaar: What the Hell! Zaroon Shut up.
JY: Here have this drink. You'll feel much better, believe me. He said passing him a glass of whiskey.
Iqtiaar: I am not drinking tonight so stop this nonsense. He said firmly.
Laila: Oh! Good move Donny, I am impressed. She said teasing him and giggling like how she had been doing all evening.
Iqtiaar: I am leaving. He said and got up to leave having enough of his friends, leaving them laughing and JY giving a hi-five to Laila.

Razia sat on the dressing table thinking about the happiness she had received just in a day. She was just not able to believe it or accept that it was all for her. A sweet smile crept on her face. She took off her earrings and placed it on the table.
Razia: I love you. She whispered seeing herself in the mirror and a wide smile formed on her lips which made her feel shy and look down. But then the incident on the dinner table made her remember Rukn-ud-din. Tears formed in her eyes as even after trying so much she wasn't able to forget her past. Those memories of dark nights still haunted her. Just then there was a knock on the door.
Razia: Yes Chanda! She walked to the door and opened it and walked back trying to hide her tears.
Razia: Chanda I am fine so don't start with all your questioning again. It's just that I wasn't able to take this necklace out. It's hurting so ...
She looked back in the mirror and stopped speaking when she saw that it was Iqtiaar and not Chanda standing on the door.
Razia: Aa..Aap...? She said immediately turning to him.
Iqtiaar: yes. M... Me. Why? were you expecting someone else?
Razia: Yes. She said innocently to which Iqtiaar raised an eyebrow. Razia understood that that was such a wrong thing to say.
Razia: I mean No.
Iqtiaar: That means you were waiting for me?
Razia: huh? She looked at him confused.
Iqtiaar: Why do you have your hair tied up? They look beautiful when they are open. He said as he pulled the clip off her hair. And I don't like those tears in your eyes either. He said casually.
Razia looked at him immediately surprised as to how he could notice each and everything about her so effortlessly. Still she turned back around towards the mirror trying to take off the heavy necklace and said.
Razia: No, it's just because it's hurting. She said nervously fidgeting with the knotted string of the neckpiece and trying to control her tears when she suddenly felt Iqtiaar's hands on her both elbows relaxing her arms down.
Please play this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nr5_d2YaAwo
MUSIC: She looked up in the mirror to see his deep intense eyes boring into hers. He traced his hands all the way up to her shoulders and moved her hair onto one side to see the string of the Khandani necklace bouncing on her back.
Meri adhoori kahaani
Lo daastaan bann gayi
Ho Tune chhuaa aaj aise
Main kya se kya ban gaya
Razia closed her eyes as he traced his hand on the bare back till he reached the end of the necklace thread and pulled it. He bent down with his eyes still fixed on her in the mirror and with his teeth pulled the knot of the string off.
A lone tear escaped her eyes as she couldn't control it anymore with her lips forming a cute little pout. She opened her teary eyes to see her husband standing behind her in the mirror and sighed looking into his eyes.
Sehme huey sapne mere haule-haule angdaiyaan le rahe
Thehre huey lamhe mere nayi-nayi gehraiyaan le rahe
As the Khandani necklace fell off her neck, Iqtiaar caught it in his hand near her waist. He let it fall on the dressing table with Razia resting her head back on his shoulder and Iqtiaar encircling his arms on her waist.
Zindagi ne pehni hai muskaan
Karne lagi hai itna karam kyun na jaane
Karvat lene lage hai armaan phir bhi hai
Aankh num kyun naa jaane O Saiyyan...
As silent tears flowed uncontrollably from her eyes not able to bear so much of happiness, she couldn't believe it was happening to her. She was his and finally out of that hell. It was her first night without hearing any shouting and screaming, but actually being loved. She looked over her shoulder at him who looked into her teary eyes lovingly.
MUSIC: He bent down and kissed her tears drinking her pain and sorrows along with the salty water. As he let her pallu fall, she immediately turned around and hugged him tight digging her nails on his back.
Odhu teri kaaya
Solah sigaar main saja loon
Sangam ki ye raina isme tyonhar main mana loom
Khushboo teri choo ke kastoori main ho jaaun
Kitni pheeki thi main sindoori main ho jaaun
Razia moved her face away from his chest and he picked her up in his arms. He took her to bed and made her lie down. With only scented candles burning around in the room, her face glowed not just because of the light but because of true happiness that she was experiencing for the first time in her whole life. Her pink pallu fell of the bed as he settled himself next to her and took her mang tika off revealing her forehead kissing it lightly.
Sur se zara behki huyi meri duniya thi badi be-suri
Sur mein tere dhalne lagi
Bani re piya main bani baansuri
She smiled between her tears looking at him as she caressed and cupped his face in her hands. She lifted her head a bit up from the pillow and kissed his fore-head absorbing the feeling to have him for her. Iqitiaar softly held her chin in his palm as lowered his face on to hers when she out of shiver turned around.
Zindagi ne pehni hai muskaan
Karne lagi hai itna karam kyun na jaane
Karvat lene lage hai armaan phir bhi hai
Aankh num kyun naa jaane O Saiyyan...
She rolled her body on the other side digging her face in the pillow trying her best to hide her pain from him. She was going through such an emotional turmoil that she just couldn't control even one such feeling that she was experiencing. Iqtiaar Held her arms tightly in his grip slowly moving his fingers down towards her fingers dug in the pillow. He interlocked his fingers with hers and kissed on her back just below her shoulder. Her light moans were accompanied with sobs as she desparately tried to control her crys.
Mere aasmaan se jo hamesha gumshuda thay
Chaand taare tune garrdishon ki lay badal di
Laut aaye aaj saare... O Saiyyan...
Iqtiaar turned her over bringing her into his embrace understanding that she still wasn't ready. Till now he had thought of her to be shy but probably that wasn't the case. She was emotionally too weak and he had to get her to open up to him before they could think of any kind of physical intimacy in their relationship. He had to make her feel relaxed and comfortable around him and make her share her pain and past with him. Because he could bet on his life that there was something really big which had harmed her in ways not the outside world could see.
***
Razia silently wept in her sleep in his arms with her head in the hollow of his neck; her hair caressing his jaw line as she hugged him tightly. She slowly drifted into a sound sleep after years. Iqtiaar couldn't really get any sleep. It was an oddly satisfying feeling to have her in his arms and it felt as if he would lose her if he fell asleep. For the next two hours or so (yes they didn't get any more time than this!) he just kept moving his hand softly caressing the length of her almost naked back. It was around 3:00 am when there was a knock on the door which made Razia get up. She looked up to level her face with Iqtiaar's and looked into his eyes with a slight smile on her face. Iqtiaar too smiled back at her and kissed her forehead whispering: Good morning!
Well it truly was her first good morning. Razia: Good morning! She whispered back.
There was again a knock on the door; this time a bit louder. It was Uzma Mumani who had come to wake them both up.
Uzma: Iqtiaar beta? Razia? She shouted to get at least one of their attention.
Razia: I'll go and check. They both got up and Iqtiaar went in the washroom while Razia covered her head with her dupatta in order to look a bit presentable and opened the door.
Razia: Good morning Mumami! She said and kissed her hands. Uzma smiled back and wished her good morning hugging her.
Uzma: Beta, its already 3:00 am; you should both get ready quickly and make sure everything's packed. Has Iqtiaar got up? She looked around to see if he was still in bed.
Razia: Ji, he's in the bathroom.
Uzma: Alright. I just got this for you to wear today. She said smilingly whereas Razia took it with a slight smile. She really hoped it wasn't an Indian wear because she could swear she couldn't wear it while travelling.
Uzma: Let me know if you need anything or any help. And yes, Shazia is in just the next room so you can call her if it's too urgent. Ok?
Razia nodded smiling. Uzma: I'll go now. Mami left and Razia went to her bed opening the packet nervously and silently hoping it wasn't a traditional wear.
But to her luck it was one. It was a golden cream color anarkali churidar. Though it was definitely beautiful, Razia felt grumpy about wearing it while travelling and that too to London in such a long flight. She sat on the bed with a glum face when suddenly Iqtiaar came out of the washroom with a black towel tied around his waist, his hair all wet falling on his fore-head. He saw Razia sitting on the bed with something in her hand. She was facing the other way.
Iqtiaar: Is everything alright? He asked concerned. Razia immediately slid the dress back in the bag and turned around to him.
Razia: yes everything is...
She couldn't finish as she was left speechless with her sexy husband standing in front of her eyes wearing only a black towel and his hair all wet dripping water. She stood there with her lips forming a cute o' and her eyes wide open. Iqtiaar smirked an evil smile and walked up to her.
He held her chin and pushed it up closing her mouth bringing her back to her senses as she immediately looked away and walked in the bathroom picking up the packet. Iqtiaar could see her almost running away clumsily into the bathroom. He controlled his laughter when he saw her almost walking into the wall instead of the door and shouted out to her;
Iqtiaar: Be careful Razia! Before shaking his head to himself at his wife's cuteness.
***
Razia took bath and got ready wearing the churidar suite half heartedly. She had seriously had enough of wearing such heavy bridal wear.
This is what she is wearing:
As Razia was applying her makeup in the dressing room, she heard a knock on the door and saw Shazia standing behind on the door. Shazia walked up to Razia and held her from the shoulders.
Shazia: Someone's looking very pretty! She said with her cute bubbly smile. Razia smiled back slightly not really knowing how to talk or ask Shazia about her dressing.
She saw Shazia wearing a white track suite and thought that Shazia won't really have any problems with her wearing western clothes. Shazia went back and sat on the sofa to let Razia keep dressing up while she could have a little chat with her before she was off to London.
Shazia: so excited? Razia nodded.
Razia: Aapi can I ask you something?
Shazia: Of course Razia. You can ask me anything you want. I am your sister now. Remember?
Razia immediately went and sat next to Shazia holding her both hands in hers.
Razia: Aapi is it really necessary for me to wear Indian wear?
Shazia: Why Razia? Don't you like them?
Razia: No Aapi. It's not that. They are beautiful. It's just that I've never worn such clothes ever before and they are a bit uncomfortable for me. Is it okay if I wear jeans and dresses?
Shazia: Of course Razia. You can wear anything that is comfortable to you. Nobody would stop you. And Nani and Mumani definitely don't have any problems with it. If they have always allowed me they will allow you as well.
Razia sighed a relief. Razia: But Mumani... she only gave this churidar to me.
Shazia: Razia, Mumani must have given you this for the morning prayers to be done at home before you leave for the airport. You don't want to wear it while travelling right? Razia nodded.
Shazia: Then you don't have to. You can change before leaving for the airport. Alright? Or if it's getting too late I'll ask Laila to help you change at the airport. Happy Now?
Razia nodded again.
Shazia: Then where's my Bhabhi's smile? Razia smiled extremely happy and hugged Shazia a tight hug.
Before leaving Shazia said one last thing to Razia, Razia, being a Mallik daughter in law doesn't mean you can't wear western clothes and dresses or you have to wear sarees; it's only about giving love and respect to everyone in the family. And by showing concern about Mumani's feelings I am hundred percent confident that you are the perfect daughter-in-law for this family. God bless you!
She hugged Razia once again and left for her to finish getting ready.
***
After getting ready Iqtiaar and Razia came downstairs, and everyone started preparing to get into the cars. JY and Zaroon were busy getting the luggage loaded in the cars whereas Nani and Uzma had already left for the Mallik Mansion.
The couple was welcomed by Uzma Mumani at the Mallik mansion and was taken to the little room in the house where prayers were offered and some rituals were performed.
After the rituals they asked for their leave and Iqtiaar, Razia, Zaroon, JY, Chanda and Laila were off to the airport. Shazia had asked Laila to help Razia get changed at the airport and had given a separate packet with her clothes in it to her.
As the six of them reached the airport, JY and Iqtiaar went busy with checking in and getting the seats together because Zaroon and Razia by mistake were booked on a different flight which JY had gotten changed to the same flight but now their seats were not together. While the two of them were busy talking to the airline people, Laila took Razia to change and Chanda and Zaroon went to have some coffee.
Iqtiaar was by far too angry at this stage; he couldn't believe that JY could be so irresponsible. He had booked Razia on a different flight first and now they weren't getting seats together. Iqtiaar had suddenly grown too protective and possessive about Razia. She was his wife and belonged besides him. And only because of JY's idiocy she had to be away from him throughout the flight.
Iqtiaar: How could you JY? Couldn't you check and make sure of such a small thing? How the hell could you book Razia on a different flight?
JY: Donny, I am really sorry. Actually Zaroon was to travel on a later flight and we were getting only four tickets on this flight therefore I told the travel agent to book Chanda on the other flight but the idiot booked Razia on the other one. I am so sorry!
Iqtiaar: Don't give me such a lame excuse JY. It was your duty to check on this. How can you be so dependent on a travel agent? He had really lost his control over his anger by now. Razia being away from him even if it meant in the same flight was something he couldn't take. He was about to shout more at Jamal when he saw his angel along with Laila approaching them.
Iqtiaar stood rooted at his place to see Razia wearing a bubble gum pink off-shoulder top with a pair of black skin fit jeans. She looked absolutely stunning and held a strange power to attract him beyond his control over any of his feelings towards her which were yet unnamed.
