~Mujhmein Tera AKS~
Part 11
Mallik Mansion; 11:00 am;
Iqtiaar got up with a heavy head, his head aching badly as he sunk his head back into the pillow.
Iqtiaar: Ah!! Razia. He murmured her name unconsciously when he saw Shazia enter his room with a glass of lime water and a disprine tablet in her hand. She placed it on his bedside table.
Shazia: Common Chhote Nawab! Get up and get ready quickly. You need to come with me and Nani to the Khan residence to pick Razia and Qutub Aunty up. We are going shopping!!!
Iqtiaar immediately got up on the bed as her realized that it was his last chance to apologize to Razia or to at least understand her stance on the situation. The following two days were the mehendi' and sangeet' functions and then the wedding. It all meant that he won't get a second alone with her and today was the only day he was left with.
***
Iqtiaar came down the stairs running wearing a chocolate color sweatshirt jacket with a hood and a black pair of jeans.
Iqtiaar: Nani, Aapi shall we?
Nani and Shazia stood there shocked to see Iqtiaar so keen in taking them all shopping. They exchanged a smile and then Shazia burst out laughing on him.
Iqtiaar: What? He looked at them confused.
Shazia: Nothing Chhote Nawab we are just waiting for Mumani.
As Uzma too joined them they all left for the Khan residence.
***
The Khan residence was filled with guests and family relatives to have started to pour in for the wedding. The preparations were at full swing. After the initial hello's and Hi's between the prime members of both the families, Nani proposed to leave as early as possible for the market. Iqtiaar's eyes till now were continuously looking for Razia ever since he had stepped into the Khan residence but she was nowhere to be seen.
Iqtiaar: Didn't Aapi say she'll be coming with us? He thought to himself. He was on the main door when he saw her descending down the stairs accompanied by Chanda. She took away his breadth the moment she looked up in his eyes. But it lasted only for a split second as she immediately looked away.
Iqtiaar just kept staring at her when he felt a hand on his back. It was Laila wearing a red color strapped Kameez with a churidar. She looked simple yet elegant.
Laila: Hey Donny!
Iqtiaar: Laila? What are you doing here?
Shazia: I have invited her. She too is coming with all of us for the shopping. Laila smiled excitedly at Iqtiaar while Shazia went back to escort Razia till the car.
Laila: Must say she's very beautiful and sweet too.
Iqtiaar: you've met her? He asked surprised by Laila's comments on Razia.
Laila: yeah I am here since seven in the morning; and seems like she's really mad at you. You'll have to really work hard to say sorry to her.
Iqtiaar made a guilty cum irritated face. He so wanted to speak to her right now. But there was no chance, they both were surrounded by a whole set of relatives congratulating them every now and then.
Laila: Don't worry, we'll think of something. She said winking at him.
The ladies moved towards the cars in order to hurry up. Nani proposed that Shazia and she will go with Qutub and Uzma in the Khan's car and Laila, Chanda and Razia will go with Iqtiaar. A slight smile formed on Iqtiaar's face as he realized the golden opportunity which had fallen right in his lap.
Laila and Chanda took seats at the back while Razia was left with no other choice than to sit besides Iqtiaar on the passenger seat.
Please play this song it plays in the car while they drive to the market: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQSlEfhAnl4
Kitne dafe dil ne kaha, dil ki suni kitne dafe
Waise toh teri na mein bhi maine dhoondh li apni Razia
Tu jo agar haan kahe toh baat hogi aur hi
Waise toh teri na mein bhi maine dhoondh li apni Razia
Tu jo agar haan kahe toh baat hogi aur hi
Dil hi rakhne ko kabhi, upar upar se sahi keh dena haan
Keh dena haan yun hi
Kitne dafe dil ne kaha, dil ki suni kitne dafe
Iqtiaar kept looking towards her side again and again while he drove the car but Razia didn't even spare him a single look. She looked straight outside the window with her eyes empty of any emotion in them. That's how she had been for the last two days; completely detached from everything going around her. She just kept doing and going to places she was told too but nothing more than that. Ever since her engagement night she had lost a major part of her existence and her will to live life like she did previously.
Kitne dafe hairaan hua main yeh soch ke
Uthti hai ibaadat ki khushbuyen kyun mere ishq se
Jaise hi mere honth yeh choo lete hain tere naam ko
Lagey ke sajda kiya keh ke tujhe shabd ke bol doon
Yeh khudayi chodh ke, phir aaja tu zameen pe
Aur jaa na kahin, tu saath reh ja mere
Kitne dafe dil ne kaha, dil ki suni kitne dafe
Iqtiaar desperately wanted her to look at him once just once. As the car came to a halt on the red light Razia felt a slight jerk and looked towards Iqtiaar. He smiled at her in order to get some response from her but to his utter shock she just smiled back at him and then looked away. He could feel her pain now and it was becoming unbearable for him to see her like that.
Kitne dafe mujhko laga tere saath udhte hue
Aasmaani dukaanon se dhoond ke pighla doon main chaand yeh
Tumhaare inn kaano mein pehna bhi doon boonde banaa
Phir yeh main soch loon samjhe gi tu jo main na keh saka
Par darta hoon abhi na yeh tu pooche kahin
Kyun laaye ho yeh, kyun laaye ho yeh yun hi
Kitne dafe dil ne kaha, dil ki suni kitne dafe
Razia's dupatta flew a little and fell on the gear as the wind blew in because of the windows of the car were open. Iqtiaar felt the soft maroon fabric under his hand as he changed the gear and let his hand feel it for a little longer as he let his hand rest there. He wanted to talk to her but couldn't as Chanda and Laila were too sitting in the car and were busy with their nonstop gossip about the clothes they were both planning to buy. And Razia too didn't seem to pay any attention towards him. As they reached the market place Laila and Chanda got down and ran towards the other car where Shazia was standing waiting for them.
Iqtiaar thought of talking to Razia now.
Iqtiaar: Razia, I wanted to tell you...
But before he could continue, Razia got down of the car and went away leaving him speechless sitting alone in the car.
***
Iqtiaar had tried again and again in different shops to get hold of Razia alone but it was becoming more and more difficult with Uzma or Shazia always by her side. Or it was Nani who was making him try different shervani's telling him again and again how he was looking just like a prince.
Now this was probably the 6th or the 7th showroom that the ladies had desired to shop in and Razia right now was in the ladies room of the showroom along with Chanda, Laila and Shazia trying on a wedding dress. How he had wished to get in when he finally saw Shazia and Chanda coming out and going towards Qutub. He went in the room finding a perfect opportunity before anyone could see him going in. Iqtiaar saw Razia standing in front of a huge mirror wearing a red/purple lehenga looking just outstanding.
He couldn't help himself but just walk towards her completely mesmerized by her beauty. Razia stood there quietly as she felt a wave of happiness run down her spine to see him approaching her with different emotion in his eyes she had not seen before. The expression was soft and held compassion in it. But she still wasn't sure if it was love or something else. Iqtiaar moved further towards her and cupped her face in his one hand smiling down at her. He really didn't have words to express how beautiful she was looking. Iqtiaar was about to hold her face in his other hand too when the sound of his phone call disturbed him and he left her abruptly to attend the phone call and left. Razia felt extremely hurt to have been just left like that. Wasn't she even that important to him to have for once just left his phone call? It was pretty obvious that she expected him to say something and give his opinion on her wedding dress but he had showed absolutely no interest.
Razia: He doesn't love you Razia! How many more times do you want him to tell you that? She told herself feeling rejected. Why don't I just accept it? She said as she gritted her teeth and fisted her fingers in the dupatta of the lehenga as she sat down on the sofa kept there. She couldn't help her tears from flowing as she recalled the past four days of her life when she met him in the middle of the road in front of Uncle Nizam's Caf and then their wedding being fixed, the engagement the next day and the Darga. How he had come into her room last night. She loved him god dammit and she had wanted him all her life then why couldn't he love her back? Why? She wanted to shout and ask that question to him but the fear of losing him once they would talk it out was too strong. And she knew it very well that she'll not be able to take his rejection. She would do everything in her capabilities to keep him happy
She held herself in a protective way as her tears flowed uncontrollably. Iqtiaar on the other hand was back after attending the call when he saw Razia sitting on a sofa and silently crying. His heart ached to see her like that. He knew the reason was him and he had started feeling disgusted with himself to see her that. Iqtiaar, not able to see the visual of Razia crying in front of him left from there as he went away and sat in the car.
***
It was finally the wedding day; the 10th of the month. The last two days Iqtiaar had tried his best to get Razia alone during the mehendi and sangeet ceremonies but he wasn't even spared a few seconds of time alone with his to be wife. But Razia had started looking much happier and livelier from the last two days. Last night at the sangeet Iqtiaar had only seen Razia smiling and even laughing throughout the function. JY and Laila had performed a short play on Iqtiaar and Razia after marriage which was undoubtedly hilarious and Zaroon and Chanda's duet performance on didi tera dewar deewana' had left everyone with sweet smiles on their faces. Today they were getting married and Iqtiaar now had calmed down and decided to talk to Razia at night once she was home as his wife. Any which ways, he didn't have any other option.
Iqtiaar got ready wearing his sherwani as he knew that Shazia would be at his door any minute and would start shouting at him for not getting ready on time when he knows that there's so much to be done. He hated it but well he had no choice but to wear it.
This is what Iqtiaar wears on his wedding day:
And he was so right. He was putting on his wrist watch when he heard the knock on his door and Shazia entered wearing a deep maroon cum bergundy saree with gold border. She looked beautiful like always. It was their family tradition that the women of the family wore maroon and deep wine color sarees with tradition gold borders. Even the men wore light colors in the shades of gold.
Iqtiaar: Aapi why the hell am I to wear sherwani and that too this? Can't I just wear a suit?
Shazia: Chhote Nawab, that's our family tradition and you have to follow it. Iqtiaar looked away annoyed. Common we have to start with the rituals and everyone's waiting for you in the Hall so be quick.
As Shazia got Iqtiaar down in the hall, the hall was filled with family members and relatives waiting eagerly for the groom. The Mallik mansion was decorated with flowers and lights. And diyas and candles were lighted at different places. Iqtiaar was made to sit on a sofa and Shazia along with Nani and Mami started with the pre wedding rituals.
Laila wearing a maroon color suite looked traditional and cute. She stood next to JY who was busy taking snaps on his camera. Even after Iqtiaar had showed his discomfort about JY's activity saying that there were professional camera men who were there to shoot the wedding ceremonies, JY had insisted upon shooting a personalized version of it. When JY noticed Iqtiaar giving him evil looks he immediately turned to Laila who happily kept posing for him making Iqtiaar smile at his friends' antics.

The Khan Residence;
Amidst the hustle bustle of the house where a wedding was to take place in few hours from now, there stood a man completely annoyed and angry with what was going around him. He couldn't believe it. In the past one week he had tried his best to stop this wedding to take place. He had manipulated Iqtiaar's mind about Razia, said negative things to Badi Amma Huzoor, who was an old relative of Altamush, about the wedding taking place in too much of hurry to which she had eaten Altamush's head for the past three days and he had even made sure Iqtiaar doesn't get any time alone with Razia in any of the ceremonies. But still what surprised Rukn-ud-din Khan was that Iqtiaar hadn't refused to the marriage. He had known Iqtiaar since school and knew that he would never give in to love. In fact he knew that Iqtiaar wanted to marry a girl who herself didn't believe in love, then why the hell wasn't he saying no? He stood there frustrated with his unsuccessful attempts and also unable to understand what exactly was going in his friend's mind when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
Altamush: Rukn-ud-din?
Rukn-ud-din: yes dad?
Altamush: have you made sure all the guests staying at Taj hotel are at ease? Please make sure all their needs are taken care off.
Rukn-ud-din: Yes Dad, I have already spoken to the manager once in the morning. He said annoyed.
Altamush: Hmm. But I want you to personally go once to the hotel and see that everyone is comfortable.
Rukn-ud-din: What's the need dad? Why are you doing so much for this wedding?
Altamush: Stop it Rukn-ud-din. It's your sister's wedding. Behave like how you are expected to.
Rukn-ud-din: step sister. He corrected giving Altamush a look.
Altamush: I don't want to hear you referring to her in that way ever again. Now go to the hotel and do what I have asked you to. And I want you back here in an hour. He left to attend the guests saying this.
Rukn-ud-din turned around extremely irritated with the amount of importance that Razia and her wedding was getting in the Khan residence. He was walking towards the main door when he saw Razia coming out of her room. He gave her a dirty disgusting look and walked away.
Razia walked to her mother Qutub who was busy managing the servants in the kitchen as well as the ladies who were guests.
Razia: Mom, my wedding dress?
Qutub: Your wedding dress? It came this morning from the Mallik House, she said trying to remember. Oh yes! Chanda has it in her room. I'll just ask her to get it for you. You wait for her there. She'll be with you five minutes.
Razia: okay!
***
Qutub went to Chanda's room where she was getting ready. Chanda wore a green lehenga with a blue choli. Her hair tied in a beautiful bun.
Qutub: Chanda?
Chanda: yes Aunty?
Qutub: Do you have Razia's shaadi ka joda (wedding dress)?
Chanda: Yes Aunty it's right here.
Qutub: Could you just go to her room and give it to her. Also help her in getting ready. I'll send the ladies from the beauty parlor to help you both.
Chanda: Sure Aunty!
Chanda went to Razia's room and knocked the door. On getting no response she slowly opened the door and called for her.
Chanda: Razia?
Still there was no response. Chanda went in and checked the bathroom too. But she was left shocked when she didn't find Razia there too! Where was Razia???
