Jhumki and Thumki bua have finally thrown Rani out of the Mahal. Now, she's back in the house as a maid Kajri. And though her character is going through a bad phase, Anjali Abrol, who plays Rani/Kajri on Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, is nothing but thrilled at being downgraded from her queenly status.
Anjali says, "After my makeover, that is, after I turned into a maid, I feel as if I've gone back to the old days when Rani used to serve nasshta to everyone and communicate with them through her coy looks. Everything is like that now."
Elaborating more on her very different look, she says, "As I am portraying the role of a maid, I am very ugly. I have a visible broken tooth and a dark black mole on my right cheek. My hair is made to look very untidy too."
In fact, the actress was so unrecognisable to herself that she burst out laughing when she caught sight of herself in the mirror. "I couldn't stop laughing when I saw myself. But then, when I saw that black mole, I felt very disgusted," she says. And while everyone on the sets can't resist taking pictures of her in her new avatar, costar/boyfriend Kapil Nirmal just gave her the message: Kaafi khoobsurat lag rahi hain aap!
Anjali says that she is more comfortable playing a maid than she is playing a rani. She adds, "Since I've played both shades of my character, I can safely say that I love playing a maid because it is more fun and more challenging. In fact, I even loved my first look, where I had to tie two plaits and wear a salwar kameez. It was fun as well as very comfortable."
Presently on the show, Jhumki (Apara Mehta) and Thumki bua (Nupur Alankar) have thrown Rani out of the house. Nobody in the house trusts Rani and as a result she has to leave the house. But now, to save her family and to unveil the true identity of both the buas, Rani has come back to the house as a maid.
Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat airs every Monday to Friday at 8pm on Star Plus.
