Mona Singh is still known as the uber popular ever so loved Jassi.. so I guess they did not want her role to be anything other than ultra positive.. so perhaps they did this twist of being mahan..

I wish they had let the show end in its own time instead of this abrupt ending! and what i dont understand is if raunaq left because she wanted to spare shekhar the trauma of seeing her die, then why did she return? and why was she pleading with him to give her one more chance to make their relationship work? strange!!
