I don't know the source of the story. Certainly not MBh or Harivamsa. I haven't read Bhagavatam completely to comment.

My belief Radha is fictional. I also believe Rukmini is either fictional or was one of Krishna's junior wives made prominent by her connection to Pradyumna/Aniruddha line. Because the timeline doesn't fit for her to be Pradyumna's mother. I also don't think Jambavati was Krishna's wife. I think Samba was adopted by Krishna, and Jambavati came to be known as his wife because of it. Satyabhama was, however, married to Krishna in presence of family and friends. There is a good chance, IMO, that she was his only wife.

That being said, the story of Tulsi leaf is specifically about Satyabhama's arrogance vs. Rukmini's love. It was Rukmini who placed the leaf.

I agree with all of the above.

Keeping aside faith for a few minutes... Fact is that Krishna and Balram were penniless. Revati's dowry was the land and Satyabhama's dowry was the money that built Dwarka. Rukmini just eloped with what she was wearing and her love

So if we go by literal definitions Revati was Bhudevi and Satyabhama Sridevi.

Tulabharam is a classical arrogant rich wife v/s loving poor wife trope. Rukmini attained her spot as chief consort for Krishna due to Pradyumna /Aniruddha / Vajra line who became the main line of Krishna's descendents or rather claimed to be the main line.

This story is basically trying to say so what if Satyabhama is rich all her wealth is nothing compared to the love that Rukmini had for Krishna. Love greater than money right....

It's like Akbar's wife Harkabai. During her life time she was just one of the princesses in the harem. The chief queen was always Ruqaiya followed by Salima. Both cousins of Akbar.

It is only when Harkabai's son Jahangir became next emperor she got the title of Mariam Uz Zamani and now we have Ashutosh Giwariker doing propanganda of an immortal love story of Akbar and Harkabai rechristened as Jodha a name that actually belongs to Jahangir's wife. This actual Jodha was Harkabai's niece.

In my opinion this is similar to what happened with Krishna Pradyumna as well.

Krishna marries the aunt Pradyumna married the niece. Niece is as good as daughter, adopted Pradyumna becomes aunt Rukmini's son and she ends up being the chief lady in later stories.

Infact Jodha Akbar movie had a similar Tulabharam scene as well in one of the songs....

This RK serial might try to do the same but with Radha....

I don't know the exact origin of this story but it most probably is from some later Puranas

The story is definitely meant to increase the importance of Rukmini as the chief consort of Krishna although she doesn't even play a minor role in Krishna's life except being the mother of Pradumnya

Satyabhama was always the most important wife in Krishna's life, she got him wealth, helped him fight the opponents(especially Narkasur) and accompanied him for his major accomplishments (she is the only one to have at least some prominent or less prominent role in Mahabharat). The only other wife which affected Krishna's life (though in a negative way) was Jamvanti, because it was only for her father that Krishna gets accused of theft and later her son plays an important role in the Yadava farticide

Other wives of Krishna had nearly no importance, their presence or absence wouldn't have affected Krishna a lot.

The premise of Tulabharam story is post Satyabhama assisting Krishna for Narkasur Vadh and the premise is highlighting the that all the riches of Satyabhama is no match for the devotion and love of Rukmini

It clearly is an attempt to show that Satyabhama might be an ever accomplice and helper of Krishna, she might possess the riches of the entire world but she is nothing when compared to a small dedication by Rukmini

Basically love over riches and support

The story has been meant to undermine the importance of Satyabhama so it makes no sense that in any story Satyabhama would have been the one to do that.

AFAIK it's Rukmini

What did RK should BTW? Had Radha advised Rukmini to do that or had someone else put in the Tulasi patra, I still hope they didn't show Radha doing it

I agree with u all. Whatever I have heard of the tulabharam story, it's all about how arrogance and pride over wealth or beauty or anything won't last long. It's only humbleness that lasts. It was always about Rukmini's humbleness vs Satyabhama's arrogance but I guess different writers have written different versions of this story too that's why some call this story true some call this a folklore.

So as expected, the writers of this show came up with their own version of the Tuladaan story. Their story has nothing to do with Satyabhama's arrogance. One kingdom's king captured the Ashwamedh yagya ka horse and Sambh gives this idea to the ranis to donate their gold as per Krishna's weight to the king to get back that horse. 🤣🤣Why can't they just stick to the scriptures instead of coming up with such crappy ideas? 🤪

Also, I guess after all the backlash they received for spoiling Rukmini's character in the show previously, they are doing damage control. There's literally 360 degree transformation in Rukmini's characterization now. 😆

What stupidity is this.

The Ashwamedh horse is captured to challenge the king carrying out Ashwamedh or else the kingdom through which the horse crossed would become a vassal to the king conducting the Ashwamedh

The horse isn't captured due to some kind of arrogance and hard feelings or greed (as TV serials generally show about the kings who capture the horse of Ashwamedh by the heroes of show) but with the sole objective of retaining the sovereignty of their state.

Why on the earth would a king return the Ashwamedh horse on receiving gold?

Not just that this is huge distortion it is actually logicless to bring this kind of track

Whatever little I have seen of her in the olden episodes she used to be a spoilt immatured brat and an over jealous wife. In today's episode she was literally behaving like typical mahaan sacrificing selfless itv wife. 😆
