TV was as crap as today ( specially star and zee ).....80% of the shows were ekta kapoor crap ....all the K craps with multiple marriages and rapes and plastic surgery and memory loss and extramaritals and illegitimate kids......and there were some youth shows where people got married and consummated in school, college, hospitals premises ( plus romance, party and everything other than studying or whatever those places were meant for )... The only sensible show other than LRL was jassi jaisi koi nehi (it too went down the drain after she got a make over ). There were some good comedy shows like khichri, Sarabhai vs saravai and family no. one and some kids' shows like shaka laka boom boom, son pari and shaktiman. And the Ramanand Sagar reruns ---- though these and shaktiman came in the national TV and metro. 90% rest of the cable tv were utter crap like today.

The early 90s was the golden age of television. Women used to be IPS, tomboy office workers, air force officer etc. in those days. Even the relationship dramas like shanti and swabhiman were gems. Comedies like office office. That was the early 90s. Then ekta mata came with kabhi sautan kabhi saheli and everything got ruined.

Left right left and jassi were exceptions. We were not luckier than today's kids. Atleast today they have Netflix and web series. We only had shaktiman, shree krishna and shaka laka boom boom.

Ohh Santhi, I was a small kid then, and it was telecasted for 4/5 years right? It was my mother's fav serial. It used to come around the afternoon time. I loved so much that heroine Mandira, later she played a cameo in DDLJ!!๐Ÿ˜ƒThe other serials you referred I have no idea. Yes... saw a few episodes of Shaktiman!! Anyway, those were the days, childhood is a bliss, which nowadays the kids are missing because of video games and cartoon Network!

Thank God... I never watched Ekta Mata's serials till date. Now watching that Tulasi as a minister!!!!!!!

That show is an example where I absolutely loved the creative liberty they took. It's more like a dramatized analysis of the Mahabharata and less a mythological story. I didn't like all the actors but i absolutely loved Krishna and duryadhan. Krishna doesn't look like a 'krishna' but he made it up with his acting imo. It was logical, sensible and well scripted.

Red----How can you be wrong about whether YOU liked the actors ? You can be either right or lying but can never be wrong ๐Ÿ˜†. It's your opinion, not some scientific or historical fact for god's sake. You are always right on whether something suited to your eyes.

Settled with ' ideal types' -- means Bheem should be a well built , lesser brain wala, Arjun must be like a cupid who steals the hearts of the young girls, Dhrmaraj with serene looks , wisdom words , but did many wrong deeds[ this is my personal perception!] and Krishna, a black God with Santhi pravachans, these images we imprinted on our minds since childhood, unable to come out from those early influences! That is what I wanted to say Storm!! ๐Ÿค—

I too was a toddler during shanti.....i read about it later.

Video games are better than tv shows๐Ÿ˜†. It enhances reflexive power, presence of mind, concentration power, analytical ability, stress handling and many more things. If you talk about the violence, even the mythologies have violence and even in video games the fight is against the evil. Even chess can be played and i don't have to talk about how good it is for a young mind.

Yes getting addicted is bad like every other addiction. Nothing in excess is good. But moderate video games is much more beneficial than tv. Just like story books. The beauty of video games is---- you get to be part of the story. You get to be the hero yourself.

Not talking about dumb games like candy crush or bubble shooter. I am talking about the real stuffs. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Early 90s. It was about a journalist girl whose mom was a maid who got raped by two rich guys. One of them was shanti's father and her mom didn't know which one. Shanti's journey was to find out which one. Parallel stories were her journalism experiences.

Cartoon network, Nickelodeon, pogo all were great during my childhood. Nowadays all 3 have gone down the drain. They should be renamed as --- Chhota Bheem, doraemon and ben 10. Nothing else airs. I don't know about the most recent time but this was the situation even 5 years back and 20 bucks says it has gone even worse.
