I loved that moment. It made me laugh so much.
I forgot to say this earlier but I just started to watch SPK from the beginning for the little kid that played Karn (cuz he was a cutie pie) and obviously for Basant. π
So I just got to the episodes Basant is in and just seeing his range of acting abilities seriously amazes me.π Just seeing him so serious with an occasional smile as Karn to the happy go lucky Balram that was dancing around with Kanha. I just loved to see his variety in acting. I saw both in the same night and was just impressed by it.
Lol sorryπ if I am not supposed to talk about SPK here but it was related to Basant that is the only reason I mentioned it. This was just a small appreciation in this large appreciation threadππΌβ€οΈ I wonβt get off topic this time π³ π

No we are very much allowed to talk about spk and even vg as long as the focus is on BB π
So glad to know you are finally catching up with karn. I watched them in November after getting recommendation from sukhi β€οΈ and thank God i did π
Obviously basant gave a an absolute dhamakedaar performance in his debut π its a pity that many ppl didn't see him as karn back then because of the show came just after MB.
U see his intensity and aggression as karn/vrishsen is unmatchable β€οΈ π he even looked so good π π his stint as karn lasted for just 2.5 months but the impact of it stays in mind, such is his caliber and charisma π
I hope he gets suitable roles in future that can do justice to his talent. Can't wait to see him as full fledged lead in some show... ππ
And yeah, keep watching π and let us know about your thoughts for teen karn/vrishsen π

Absolutely his acting talent is great. πI am also sad that his acting in SPK did not get much acknowledgement but anyway he is getting it now. To be honest I really liked his hair. Long but not too long. It looked really good on him IMO.π I kinda wish Balramβs hair was not in a ponytail because of that. But you know he is Balram so I guess they wanted a more mature look.
@bold I hope he gets a lead role some day. I kind of wish to see him in a non mytho show. Donβt get me wrong he does amazing in them but I would like to see something new and I feel he can pull it off. But if he comes back as a lead in a mytho show I will of course still watch it.π
@underline unfortunately when I was watching it my dad caught me an now wants to watch the entirety of SPK so when teen Karn is done I am stuck for a while. π©Pray for me also please say Vrishsen comes in quick or else I might get bored π£

Hi, peoples!
I've had a crazy busy week so I'm just managing to pop in now super quickly to say hello!
Being a fan of Basant's from 2015 and having seen all his roles in chronological order as they aired on TV, it is quite interesting to read what fans (like Tusu and Janu) who have seen his Balram role first and then seen any of the earlier ones have to say. π
Basant was indeed fabulous as Karn and Vrishsen, and even people who couldn't stand SPK overall praised Basant's performance quite a bit! π The show was quite strange overall with a lot of unnecessary fictionalisation, although I like that they did put in some stories from mythology/literature/folklore that I know of but haven't seen in any other shows, albeit with their fictionalised touch (the funny part was that lots of people thought these stories were completely fictional as well!). The best thing to come out of SPK is definitely Basant, so Swastik Productions at least did this one good thing of having him debut with the show, and then have a double role!!! ππΌ
Some of the things Swastik Productions say about their shows is often quite funny and turns out to be very ironic (like how they say that they did 3 years of research to make RK as authentic as possible! π€£); however, I liked their explanation of why they had decided to bring back Basant to play Vrishsen instead of getting someone else. They said that they had wanted Vrishsen's intensity to be just like that of young Karn, and that they decided to have Basant himself play Vrishsen because they didn't feel that anyone else could match Basant's intensity as young Karn. Satyavachan! For once, something Swastik Productions said was absolutely spot-on true!!! βοΈ Tusu, I agree with you and Swastik Productions on his unmatchable intensity!
Young Karn was so intense and sarcastic (and also funny!), which was awesome despite some of the weird things they set up for his character! Same goes for Vrishsen - despite being given a bit of weirdness in his storyline (which I won't reveal, for Janu's benefit), Vrishsen is actually a very well-written character who had a proper story arc with consistency and actual character growth throughout; π this is something we don't often see in Swastik Productions shows, especially RK where they love to flip-flop (and even degrade) almost everyone, particularly Balram! (I think the flip-flopping and inconsistencies with Balram's character is likely because the RK writers aren't sure how to handle his divinity and humanity at the same time, whereas Vrishsen is a human and so they didn't have that problem with his character.)
Janu, just a bit of a warning for you:
Basant's stint as Karn actually lasted only about 1.5 months, not 2.5 months. He played Karn in 31 episodes, from episode 38 (25 August 2015) until episode 68 (6 October 2015), and Gautam Rode entered as adult Karn towards the end of episode 68. I assume you are currently up to somewhere in this section of episodes?
Also, Basant's entry as Vrishsen is in episode 183 (7 March 2016), so you will have a 114-episode no-Basant gap between young Karn and Vrishsen if you're watching the whole show with your dad. Depending on how quickly you guys cover those episodes, hopefully you won't have a 5-month no-Basant-SPK-episodes gap like I did back in the day in 2015-2016! π Basant's stint as Vrishsen lasts for almost 2.5 months-worth of episodes but he isn't in every one of those episodes. I won't reveal which one was his final episode, so as not to spoil things for you, Janu. (Not that anyone asked, but yes, I know these episode numbers and dates that I've mentioned by heart. π)
The 20-month gap between Vrishsen and Vighnaharta Ganesh's Kartikeya was the worst no-Basant-on-TV gap of all time! God knows what that was like for me! Although, I did re-watch Basant's Crime Patrol and SPK episodes a bit then, which would explain why I can remember his SPK episode numbers!!! π€£
Bye for now and hopefully I'll be able to pop in here a little more regularly again soon!

that hairstyle suits him best βοΈ in vg also he got that hairstyle for one of kartikeya's avatar for brief time i believe... π true, he looks much more mature as balram. my wish was to keep his natural hair look for balram π
if he doesn't get lead after this, then it will prove that the industry is inefficient to recognize true talent. hope he gets plump offers π³
@bold - me too, but we already have something for you π₯³pls check the link section from first page of this AT and watch his crime petrol episode. if you liked his acting range then it will impress you more βοΈ
oh, vrishsen arrives from 6/7 march 2016 episode.... nearly six months after teen karn's exit. and vrishsen's initial plot is not that intriguing imo... but it grows on you... he gets his proper due during the kurukshetra track...
so till then u can easily watch the crime petrol episode π i m talking about it again and again because it left an impact on me π
all the best ππΌ
wow i am loving arti's long post πβ€οΈ

@Bold, red: Thanks, Tusu!
@Bold, blue: I definitely noticed Balram's new top - toh main (bhi) bolungi ki ye naya hain! π€£
I wanted to see if anyone else noticed and wrote about it here so I didn't say anything about it before, but I like that they've given him another new top, although as you've pointed out, not everyone will realise that it's new/different! I still find it extremely funny when some people complain that he only has "one" costume, or now I guess they think it's "two" because they can at least see that the beige-blue-red one is different! π
The other thing Balram getting a new costume is doing: it's affecting my RK "12 Days of Christmas" VM series!!! π€£ You'll see what I mean eventually! (And yes, this is the first thing that popped into my head as soon as he appeared in the new top! π)
It's good to see Basant being given some rest time, as well as getting a bit more to do in the show now when Balram is there. ππΌ He deserves both, big time!

people who keep saying he wears same costume are definitely not paying attention and passing off ignorant comments... so much so that it even reached production house π
some people are really have blinkers in their eyes but its necessary for them to poke nose in every issue... bhai sumeh k fan ho toh balram ki costumes ko le ke headache kyu inko π
having said that, i feel like removing the red drape from the beige costume and throw it somewhere πkya soch ke beige / blue k saath red combine kiya tha wo bhi pura plain... costume designer could have worked some more on balram . there are so many options, like combination colors, embroideries, embellishments, appliques etc . radha wears printed crop tops too... though i m not sure if print technology existed back then....
waiting for your next vm arti π
