Police on Rabba Ishq Na Hove sets

There was more drama than usual recently on the sets of the Zee TV daily Rabba Ishq Na Hove. Nikhil Arya, who plays an important role in the Aroona Iraani produced show lost his expensive mobile phone and the situation was so serious that finally police was called on to the sets to look into the matter. One is used to seeing cops (reel ones) on the sets, but the real cops are a rare sight. In fact, lot of spectators assumed that they were watching a shooting.

The incident happened a few weeks back when a crucial scene was being shot at Shubham Villa, Mumbai. "I usually give my phone to my spot boy whenever I am giving a shot. But that day I had sent him out on some important work. I was giving my shot downstairs while the phone was near the make up room. It disappeared within a span of just five to seven minutes. The police had to be called for a routine checking. Although the culprit could not be nabbed, the unit was very co-operative'', says a worried Arya. So who are in his list of suspects? "It must be the work of someone among the four to five unit hands comprising the dress men, spot boys etc. But I cant really point fingers'', says Nikhil.

However, Nikhil and his director Nandita Mehra do not agree on this as Nandita believes that it was the work of an outsider. Seems this is an extension of the disagreements between Nandita and Nikhil just sometime ago when Nikhil had indirectly accused his director of partiality on the sets.

However mobile thefts are not common on television serial sets. Such incidents have been reported from Balaaji and other sets on and off (though this theft is a first for the Rabba Ishq Na Hove set) Is it so that the earnings of the low income groups prompts them to indulge in such petty crimes. Nandita says, "I do not know about others but I completely trust my unit. I believe it was done by an outsider," she repeats.

"I have become extremely careful now and I have told my boy also not to leave the phone anywhere. But I still hope that whoever has taken the phone would at least return the contacts to me because it (Nokia 9500 communicator) was like a mini diary for me," Nikhil says.

Nandita also wants everyone to be on the guard. "There are about 50 to 55 people on the sets while the shoot is on. So it's practically impossible to keep a check over everyone. So we have asked everyone to take care of their valuables."
