Sujata and Anuradha inspire Aroona Irani's Doli
Actress cum producer director Aroona Irani reveals that her new show, soon to be aired on Sahara One Babul Ki Bitiya Chali Doli Saja Ke has been inspired by old Hindi films Sujata and Anupama.
"As a child, I have seen the films eight to nine times and used to cry every time. When I heard one of the songs, I was so influenced that I picked up one of the characters as my lead. During developing the concept, I felt that if Sujata and Anupama can make me cry till this day, then it will make others too."
Sujata is based on an untouchable girl while Anupama's story is similar to that of Doli. Her father considers her as an unlucky child and has never seen her face.
The show is going on air after facing much of difficulties and delays of five to six months. Anuj Saxena is playing the father of the main protagonist Barkha Bisht. However, Anuj has already quit the show before it has gone on air.
But Aroona Irani says, "Anuj had some commitments but we are still holding talks with him to try and convince him to stay on."
When asked if it will create any negative impact, Aroona feels otherwise. "If Mihir changes so often and the show still runs for seven years, then anything can happen."
Babul Ki Bitiya Chali Doli Saja Ke will go on air from 7 May, every Monday to Friday 10 PM.
